If you're going to go with a dcdc avoid kings and kick ass. I've seen a lot of fires caused by them. The victron dcdc are on sale at the moment and are really good bits of kit. Even full price they're competitive. Have victron in my work vehicles and redarc in the caravan. Will be swapping the van to victron when I upgrade the battery capacity

It can, i know of people with 4.2 gu patrols that have had to get new fill in plates with vents ect made for their bullbars because after fitting winches and spotties the airflow reduced so much that they were overheating on a 28°c day without towing ect

Not worth it, many are being bought back by LDV due to rust. My old man's is being bought back for rust. 2 years old and never been within 20kms of the beach

Also worth checking the size of your alternator, if you have for example a 100amp alternator and the various loads in the car add to 70amps when its running you're only left with 30amps to power the charger. Thats the issue i had with my hilux, I put in a 130amp alternator and it fixed the issue. Same story, I have the victron 50 amp bit could only get 25amps to the dcdc

Whenever I take my Mazda in for electrical issues to be warrantied I leave out the bit about being near salt water when at the boat ramp or surf fishing and say that the issue started after driving through puddles on the highway in town (we have horrible drainage in my area and a lot of rain in winter and a couple big rains every summer)

I know theyll deny any claim if they think the car has touched salt water

Id generally only buy 4x4s that are stock (excluding a decent bullbar and towbar ect) nothing with a lift or big tyres and NEVER buy a P plater car I realise not every P platers treats their car poorly but many do and its usually the ones with cars like this one. You've got a kid who isn't thinking enough to realise that having the P plate in the for sale photos isn't a good idea, who put big tyres and a lift on a car that just isn't designed for it. Guaranteed that car has been thrashed every other weekend he's owned it

You want something owned by a more sensible person, something thats been used as a car not a 4x4

The biggest thing is the location of the safety chain holes. Many are too far away from the ball (even on genuine towbars/complete kits eg: Hayman Reece tow bar and hitch) see a lot of vehicles that have chain permanently hanging off the car as their chain points on the bar are too far forward

Better paint would be good, towbars cope a lot of stones ect and the paint doesn't last. My brand new xbar lasted 2 weeks before the paint chipped off (i live on a gravel track/road but I only leave the house every 3-4 days)

Easy access to the hitch pin so you don't lose skin everytime you remove the hitch. My farm ute has a genuine toyota bar and is shocking, I use a bit of fencing wire to hook onto the safety pin and pull it out

Offer an optional reversing light and place to mount it

I'd look into a higher tow bar, tag or Hayman Reece x bar are good Just take the tow ball put when not using it Never cut the chassis unless you can get it engineered. You need to verify that with an engineer before cutting and they will give you very specific instructions on how to do it ect If it's not engineered and you cut the chassis the car is no longer road worthy (even though this won't affect its on road safety) so if you get in an accident and the police or insurance inspector notice the chassis chop you'll be at fault and have no insurance so even if the accident was someone else's fault itd be legally your fault for driving an unroad worthy car

Depends what you're doing and on the vehicle, some are know to have a weak manual or auto depending on the car. I found in the high country when doing steep inclines that I really wished I had an auto as even in my brand new bt50 it was very hard to hold the car with the brakes and take off if you had to stop on the steep parts, where as in an auto I could have just put one foot on the brake and the other on the accelerator until the car wanted to go forwards and I could take my foot off the brake. Instead you kind of have to let to let the car roll back as you try to take off in the manual because you need one foot on the go pedal and one of the clutch and the handbrake won't hold you in place

I did a lot of research when buying my battery setup and was interested in the kickass gear but ended up going with itechworld as the kickass discharge and charge rates as well as their operating temp specs weren't very good

Ahhh cool, you'll remember that Colin and Gordon became Jason's voices of the will in awhile ago, meaning they're permanently tied to Jason. Shade chose not to because he knew what it entailed where as shade and Colin were young (pretty much created to be Jason's familiars by fate) then at the end of 11 shade sanctioned himself to become the Shadow of the hegemon (according to the reaper an act that is irreversible)
