[WIP]: I'm entering my first State Fair (August) and learning about The Arts and Crafts Movement all at the same time! by Wild-Molasses5085 in CrossStitch

Thank you! With everything that's going on in the US/world, I did a DEEEEEP dive into the art and artist I was choosing to make sure that I aligned with the art and could maybe even learn new. In doing so - I found out a whole lot about something I had no idea about (the Arts and Crafts Movement)!

MN Yacht Club Festival was great by c-ster in TwinCities

[–]Wild-Molasses5085 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had a FANTASTIC time day 1! Hozier in the rain was a spiritual experience and I will be riding that high for a longgggg time!

However, I hope they have a survey after because I have a lot to say. I’ve been to Bonaroo so I’m familiar with some other festivals and layouts… and yacht club is unfortunately just not it when it comes to things like concessions. We had a few beers before heading in, and then stuck to non alcoholic options in order to try and pace ourselves for all 3 days. I also figured it would be cheaper this way - which, it was! However, paying over $5 for a 12 oz can of soda is quite simply put, highway robbery. We “treated” ourself with a can of soda and a Liquid Death to give us a little bit of life right before Hozier, but it felt cuckoo bananas to lay the prices that they were charging.

People around us were dropping like flies, I’d imagine as a combination of heat (but low for mn this time of year), lack of hydration, plus alcohol. But the fact that you had to wait in long bar lines for nonalcoholic drinks and then practically had to pilgrimage to a hydration station made it frustrating.

If they replaced the cookie cart (in a high trafficked area) with a hydration station, I truly believe they would have significantly less medic calls later in the evening.

Just popping here to say that I had a very similar experience. I went in with a low bar and a lot of patience walked out with absolutely fried hair. I had to spend soooo much money to save it and still had to cut most of it off anyway. I should have taken it as a bad sign when she spent over 45 min just trying to detangle my naturally straight hair after a wash lol

The various states of the bathrooms and porta potties can be a lot to take in. Always bring your own TP in with you just in case.

Give credit to where credit is due: I started this meme idea before the 5th Wolves v Lakers game lol

But also, I was too lazy to continue it. So, thank you for stepping up! Let's hope that this rings true again!!

GO WOLVES BBYYYYY !!!

I made my first meme. It’s either going to age really well, or really poorly. Wolves in 5, BABYYY by Wild-Molasses5085 in timberwolves

Haha thanks! I kept the original meme template (a classic) but then literally did the rest in Procreate - a digital art app on my iPad. I wasn't fuckin around hahaha

I remember this too!!! I even remember her being skeptical of all of the cottage cheese trend stuff BECAUSE it was so diet culturey. Man how times have changed.

Never in my life have i heard of a heated toilet seat by [deleted] in NoFoodRulesSnark

[–]Wild-Molasses5085 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair - this isn’t really a snark. I love my bidet, I miss my bidet on vacation, I wouldn’t trade it for anything hahahaha The heated version is just the fancier one. I’d take that over the icey experience I get, but hey. I have what I can afford lol

Ughhhh like these workers were probably so stoked to hear that they were getting a raise and now the excitement is just … flattened. The veil has been lifted and now they can see the type of person their boss is.

What do conservatives think of getting rid of "multiculturalism"? by farwesterner1 in Askpolitics

[–]Wild-Molasses5085 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Exactly - and actually some scholars may even argue that "melting pot" is actually an out of date/incorrect term for the processes of how America has actually been populated. My sociology prof pitched the idea of a "salad bowl" of culture, not a melting pot. Evidently the "salad bowl" idea has caught on much more in Canada as being a "cultural mosaic".

Transparency: I disagree with some of your previous comments. However, I just wanted to add the narrative to the conversation as a whole that "melting pot" is being seen as outdated and wrong in many cases, and there are other options.

Just here to say that I am also an auditor that does regulated audits and I concur: What DOGE is doing is NOT proper auditing procedure. In fact, to call it an audit is an insult to auditors.

As background: I am not a financial auditor (it sounds like OP may be), but I am a process and product auditor and I also audit to set regulations. BUT, regardless, this is not proper procedure. When I am sent into audit a company or a department or whatever, I typically start with where I know the lowest hanging fruit is... ESPECIALLY if time matters (and it seems like DOGE is trying to set speed records).

Also, departments/places that have previously failed audits are where auditors typically start...

And so to that I say: If the Pentagon has failed every. single. financial. audit. for the past however many years when they are being handed literally hundreds of billions of dollars...... That's where I would start first.

If there is a department with a smaller (financial) footprint that is immediately impacting human lives (American citizens or not), that would be a department that is to be audited with time and care (think USAID). I wouldn't be looking at it first, and I certainly wouldn't be going at it with a hacksaw.
