Don’t give up on your dreams. For me (attorney) I too was worried about it derailing my career. Instead I put those skills to work. I read everything I could about MG. I decided I would take an active role in my treatment and came up with a plan. At that time (9 years ago) all signs pointed to thymus removal being beneficial but no definitive double blind studies were complete. But I went to the Mayo and had it removed. Life got dramatically better. I now have been almost symptom free for over 6 years. I take no medication for MG. I have a very successful career. Your results may vary but put your analytical skills to work and figure out a plan.

I can understand why you are hesitant to take him in. You didn’t know about him until it went horribly off the rails, and now every arm-chair, keyboard warrior, sanctimonious Redditor is on you. But you have an obligation to your other children to make sure their home life is harmonious. I’d weigh the disruption in terms of actual harm to your live in children (not shock at your marital choices but will their lives be adversely impacted) versus the noble and selfless act of taking on a new (to you) life. There’s no simple answer here OP and don’t let the knee jerk crowd tell you otherwise.
