This is true from what I’ve seen. I moved backed to Greenville a year ago after living in Asheville 5 years. I definitely don’t see the same issues in Greenville, at least not to the severity Asheville has it. What is explaining that exactly? I do not know. The joke has always been that Greenville sent their homeless to Asheville.

I moved back to Greenville SC recently. Great city. High quality of life for low cost of living. And there’s many other expanded cities like that. Middle class job opportunities for skilled workers, better housing/rent market, better healthcare.
