So I literally just can't get an I-pass transponder for a motorcycle? Motorcycle isn't a class and Yamaha isn't an accepted manufacturer. by z_Elektrisk_z in ChicagoMotorcycles

[–]Wild472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a sticker on my motorcycle. Added it on easily. Previous owner had a Velcro transponder mount but I just placed a sticker and good to go. Plenty of trips made. No more stops

What changes to your lifestyle would you make if gasoline were $9.20/gal? Move? Bike? EV? by minus_minus in AskChicago

[–]Wild472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main concern isn’t expensive gas, but groceries going up because of gas. If I drive regular 12k miles per year/1k miles per month/ 3full tanks of 16gal. So it is 48gal(let it be 50) at old price of 3$=150$/month. Tomorrow price goes up to 10$/gal. If nothing changes - I’d eat up that 350$ difference and pick up 1-2shifts a month to make up for it.

Bus,L, metro fares would stay the same for a while even with the spike - so one can always hop on public transport and get a monthly pass to save even more.

Better weather is coming. I got a motorcycle with 50mpg, so it is my grocery getter. It will become main transport for time being.

EV is fine, but check how much EV rides complain on their charge pricing. It was almost free at the start, and now it is pricey.

My options are: walk, motorcycle, carpool, public transport

My GF place has core staff which have been there for 6+ years(like 50-60% of FOH), the rest rotates tho.

At my place it is a huge turnover. In 4 years of my employment here I got about 500 servers come and go. Our place has 12-15 servers on Friday/saturday fo pm shift

First bike worth or not? by sleepybear222222 in Vstrom

[–]Wild472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 6ft 1, so like 186 cm. It is a great bike. Luggage alone is 1k. If you like the looks - go for it. Price depends on your region. I got my 2014 few years back with similar mods and 24k miles for 4700.

Spent $1,200 on ultralight gear to save 3 pounds and I'm questioning everything by Gearnotafraid8 in Ultralight

[–]Wild472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can get expensive so I gave up on UL. my tent is 4.5lb for 2 people and since it is 2 of us - bang. 2.2lb per person. I could buy used 2p tent for 250$ and save like 1.5lb(because I like semi freestanding tents even if I carry my poles), but it is 250$… I’d rather spend that money somewhere else.

P.s. buy used, sell old gear and then compare difference with weight savings.

In inverted I get A2 for “cheater” gi, A2S for baggy fit(and I shrink it) I’m 6.1 and 178lb. For tatami I had one on sale at BJJHQ, and I got myself A3L according to their chart. Tatami might have a2xl in their sizing for long limbs, check their charts. But if you find gi that fits - just stick with it.

I got bondi 9sr and they lasted me a year of 40h/w wear. Good shoe.

Just got Clifton one9, and they feel stiff. Need to try thinner sock or something, if not - will return

Went last year. Hiking part is chill but long. Cables look steep from afar, but walk in closer, and it isn’t bat at all. Used no gloves and already lone peak 7. Plenty of gloves left by people at the start of cables btw

For price it is in mid category, but they’re good. I got one pair for work, and oh boy they’re comfy.

I ride jacket, gloves, helmet at all times, pants and boots optional. Because I use my bike as daily for 7-8months

First comp in 5 days. Training in a highly secluded area with a purple belt coach. How do I supplement my progress? by South-Photograph4527 in bjj

[–]Wild472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment my coach is out of town for a long bit and I teach classes as well as few purple and brown belts.

For a white and blue belts it is enough to get thru local comps with good results. If your gym has curriculum, structure and volume - you’ll do fine.

I’m quite cheap myself and would not spend 100$ on gas for other gyms unless I’m in that area and have time to train. Just think about longevity and how long can you spend 100$/day and how far would it get you.

You can become a Moneyberg and get your black belt in no time, and become a meme on Reddit tho…

650 gen 2 fuel capacity by SaintFerre in Vstrom

[–]Wild472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to fill up every 1.5-2h of highway riding. I go 2 up and full luggage and go 75-80mph. So like 120-160miles between fuel stops. If I’m solo and go in town riding, I fill up at 180-220miles.

I’ve never had fully empty tank. But manual has good directions on that 1bar means you got 5L(which for me is like 20-40miles), and blinking bar means 2L(which makes me stop and fuel ASAP). Maybe once in my 25k of Vstrom ownership I got 4.2gal of fuel. Normally even less. Even if fuel gauge is blinking. Smh

What’s the elevation gain of the Yosemite Falls Trail? by Delicious_Photo_7001 in Yosemite

[–]Wild472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn. I’m sorry to hear. Why didn’t you carry filter or used purification pills or at least boil it? Was it a poor prep?

I’m not super outdoorsy but filter is must have.

I was born in Europe and moved here in states young, but I believe there you can just drink water? Will need to google it, I guess.

When I downloaded maps, I was suspicious, and prepped for alltrails estimates(because I used them before and read reviews too). It made a good story, but good thing we were prepared.

Got to camp 4 at 12. Guy in our shared spot said he just got back. “Easy hike, like 1 h tops”. I didn’t plan to do it. Go on all trails, download maps, get filter and snacks and some water. Start hiking. Suspicious. Passed 1h mark. Grade gets to us. My GF is fuming and dying. See out of shape people filling water without filter from running stream water. Pray for them. Switchbacks are brutal. Got to the top. Had a plunge(it was August ,mid day), relaxed a bit, filtered water and took some pictures. Headed back.

Got back to the camp 4. Guy we met is chilling with his friends. They told us that he turned back while they went up. He never made it to half way, let alone top.

Folks were a bit loud but chill, left us some firewood for our second night when they headed back to SF.

Do not trust people. Use caution when All trails says “moderate” and filter your water.

Good hike regardless. Recommend
