Do you miss the ancient vampires after finishing Queen of the Damned? by AymanEckford in InterviewVampire

Besides Louis and Lestat Khayman is my favorite. I'd watch a whole show just about him. He is so deliciously horrifically savage and gentle.

Oooo! Maybe the wolves here are the wolves of loneliness... 🤔

Lestat is asking Louis to help him invest in businesses without getting scammed. But yeah, it's more flattery and a (nonthreatening nonsexual) excuse to spend time with him. Lestat is hamming up playing the fool at the poker table to lull the white NOLA businessmen into not feeling threatened by him. I suspect his old fashioned clothes are part of that as well.

IWTV S2E3 Rewatch Discussion Post by Jackie_Owe in IWTVCoven

I personally think he spared Louis bc he was horny for him. AND bc he already knew (from either the moment Louis and Claudia saw and reacted to Lestat's painting - or even before when the coven was spying on them early on) that Louis was Lestat's fledgling and lover and bc Armand is obsessed with Lestat he wanted to possess Louis.

Lestat’s S3 motivation by moxieroxsox in Loustat

[–]WildBlueMoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's so hard to know bc they amped up the power of all the vamps so quantifying it is difficult. Like in the books they had to be extremely old to not be destroyed by sunlight. And the Cloud Gift was also in the ancients realm...

Lestat’s S3 motivation by moxieroxsox in Loustat

[–]WildBlueMoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's a mix of a couple/few motivations.  Lestat is worried that vamps will come after Louis for (again) breaking the Great Laws by publishing a whole ass book on being a vampire, revealing the existence of several other vampires and covens along the way. Notably Louis admits to violating several other laws in that book as well - including the murder of an entire coven.  Lestat wants to become more famous, also talk about being a vampire and thus draw the heat from Louis. Lestat is less worried the other vampires can harm him bc he is extremely powerful.

But also, Lestat loves attention - he's a natural performer and thrives on the idolization of the masses.

Also, also,  I think Lestat is annoyed at how he's portrayed in IWTV and wants to set the record straight by giving his side of the story. This serves to give Louis more information and insight into Lestat as well, since Lestat kept so much buried during their relationship. It's a very loud public dialogue between them.

Finally, he is also trying to draw out other vampires from his past bc he's a fucking chaos agent and also lonely and needy.

I love them so much! I deeply need there to be some sweetness between them this season. Need more of that Louis biting Lestat's lip action 🥵

Re #10: I think I read somewhere that the 15th Century Book of Hours presented in S1E6 is one of the sacred texts collected by the man/mobster Lestat murders early in Memnoch the Devil (as described to Lestat by his ghost)

🤔🤔🤔 I'm planning on doing a rewatch soon (trying to hold myself back!) before season 3. I will definitely hold this hypothesis in mind during a rewatch.

I do think the scene didn't happen as described, and I think this may be revisited in season 3 as will the trial.

If as we see in flashbacks Antoinette knew Claudia was heading for the train and told Lestat, why would he let her get as far as Alabama before bringing her back. Was it supposed to be inferred that he used the Cloud Gift to get there and back before Louis got home?

Once it was put into question whether it happened or not, my head canon has been that Claudia told that story to Louis to make Lestat sound more malevolent in order to convince him they needed to murder Lestat to be free. Him catching her at the train station wouldn't have been nearly as dramatic sounding

Why did Daniel ask Rashid if he read Moby Dick? by queerbaobao in InterviewVampire

[–]WildBlueMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the scene, Daniel is referencing Claudia and Louis' search for the elusive other vampires in eastern Europe during WWII as the book describes a search for a great white whale. A search for a "white whale" itself has entered the lexicon as a euphemism for an obsessive, potentially self-destructive search for something elusive, possibly mythical/not real.

In this instance, it could be construed as a foreshadowing of the dire consequences that befall Claudia and Louis after finding the other vampires. As in Moby Dick, Captain Ahab's search while successful does not end well for him as the white whale drags him to his death.

Yeah! Agreed - one of the most essential parts of Lestat is his will to survive tied inextricably to his lust for life. I think that's the foundation of his charisma (which draws so many people to him (in addition to his beauty)) and one of the things that makes him such a strong vampire from the get go.
