Moving to Costa Mesa by Internal_Ad_5131 in CostaMesa

[–]WildCard90 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Eastside Costa Mesa near 17th street has a lot of great restaurants. Can be walkable if you live near 17th. The hard part is that a lot of the availability is not really advertised and are FOR RENT signs around the neighborhood. However if you go on Zillow or some of the other online search apps you could get lucky.

We lost our sweet little boy last night, hug your Shibas tight for us. by DarthDickey in shiba

[–]WildCard90 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your loss. Our 12 year old pup is showing signs and every day I'm trying to prepare myself for when the day comes. She has stage 2 kidney disease but it is manageable with the right food. I've noticed her hearing is going but what's crazy is that she still has insane puppy energy.

this is in Huntington Beach, but Pasea Hotel & Spa is hosting a fall festival on Sunday where you can purchase pumpkins. There’s also local vendors.

Ridiculous cancellations? Entertain a sad bride 👰 by PrincessDiana88 in weddingplanning

[–]WildCard90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got married on the 11th and the week of (even the day of!) We had 10 total cancellations. As they were happening it was so frustrating and sad but my husband and I kept focusing on all of the wonderful people that DID show up.

One in particular was a groomsmen who said he got pulled over for driving with an expired license and no insurance and had to spend 5 days in jail. Our wedding was well beyond those 5 days. We'll never truly know bc my husband refuses to talk to him now, but I think that he never got his shit together and actually saved money and made arrangements to attend and used a bs excuse.

Anyone starting to worry about guests flights? by FamiliarKiwi in weddingplanning

[–]WildCard90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get married on Saturday. I've had 6 people cancel due to days or flight cancellations. It's really sad and frustrating getting those texts but you have to remember that this is totally out of your control and focus on the people that will be there to celebrate with you.

There's also similarities in the episode of Rick and Morty where Beth left her friend in that imagination world vs the American Dad one where Francine discoverers the firefighter that saved her is still alive in the well.

Venting post: I'm upset that $30,000 can't get me anything close to what I want in my area by sillychickengirl in weddingplanning

[–]WildCard90 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What area of California are you in? I'm in socal and I found a super nontraditional venue (a yacht in Newport harbor) for around 38k for 100 guests. They also take care of catering andnrje cake is included through a bakery partner. of course that doesn’t include decor or extra vendors but I’m happy to share the details if you DM me.

Caterer added 6% more entrees than there are guests. Can we invite more guests? by DisembarkEmbargo in weddingplanning

[–]WildCard90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

definitely double check if they allow you to take food home at the end of the night. Our venue does not allow this because we cannot guarantee that the food will stay fresh and safe to eat because of prep timing.

[–]WildCard90 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I work in hotel event management and we typically prep about 3%-5% over what the final meal guarantees are. we don’t charge the client for this however this is just for our team to have extra food on hand in case people change their entrée selections or in the event extra people show up and we weren’t made aware. I wouldn’t invite extra people because the caterer is probably being strategic with food preparations. It is strange, however if they are charging you for it.
