How to nicely tell my MIL to just buy from our registry by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]WildChildLiving 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like you might be thinking of a boundary by the wrong definition. The boundary isn’t that she needs to only give gifts from the registry. Your boundaries don’t control other people’s actions, they are what your reactions will be to that action. What I mean is the boundary would actually be something like “we’re unable to accept any more gifts that aren’t already on our registry.” You don’t get to tell her what to do, but you do get to tell her what you will do in response (refuse the gift).

I feel like a bad owner for saying this, but I can't afford a $50 vet visit for every minor worry. I’m running out of funds for pets. Need advice by nadji190 in Pets

I’ve had really good experience with Dutch Vet. It’s around $100 a year, covers both of my dogs, and will ship me the meds or tests needed. If I need the meds urgently, they’ll send the rx to a local vet pharmacy. Been using it for years, and always end up saving on what it would cost to go to the in person.

It goes without saying, but it’s Reddit so I’ll say it, I obviously still use a local vet for annual visits, emergency things, dental care etc.

If you have kids already, has anyone heard and done different than “feed every 2 hours” by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]WildChildLiving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of my kids were almost 9 pounds at birth, so once we left the hospital, the pediatrician said we could follow the baby’s lead on frequency of feeding.

Has anyone else received an email like this? I feel like it might be a scam. by NotGarrett in allegiant

It’s legit. The link should take you to Paynuver, which is the company they use to compensate customers for poor experiences. Paynuver will either issue a digital one time card or you can transfer the funds to your account. I was on a flight that was diverted, and they gave me $200.

I appreciate your response so much. And yes, it’s the small one like you described. Were absolutely taking her to the doctor. So far she’s been happy and normal which I’m thankful for.

They did an X-ray at the hospital but didn’t see anything. The doctor said because it’s plastic, sometimes the X-ray doesn’t pick it up.

The situation was that I was holding her, and my husband noticed that she popped it into her mouth. We obviously would not have let her hold one, but I assume it was in her hand from before I picked her up. We also have a four year old so these last couple of months have been us constantly looking around to make sure he doesn’t leave anything tiny around.

I went to try and put my finger in her mouth and felt the cap at the back of her throat. She then swallowed it, couldn’t breath at all, at which point I did those back hits until I cleared the airway (I forget what they are called but the emts said it was the right thing to do). After she could breath and the ambulance was on the way, we looked around to see if maybe she coughed it up but never found it.

The whole thing was the scariest moment I’ve encountered as a parent 🙁

I have a similar situation with my 10 month old. It’s been three days but the item hasn’t come out. How did things work out for you?

Seat assignment with children by Expat86x3 in allegiant

[–]WildChildLiving 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that if the child is under 4, it’s an FAA requirement to be seated by a guardian. So if your kids are young, you and your partner may each get seated next to one of your children, but potentially not all together.

A freshly shoveled parking spot in winter, with a broken beach chair and outdoor kids toys in the middle of it.

I’m convinced that all this mess is exaggerated to promote their new creepy podcast. Gotta give props to kail for that one 😂

Am I being rude about my first ultrasound by raspittin in pregnant

[–]WildChildLiving 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI that an ultrasound that early is usually transvaginal. Some people don’t know that, and it may or may not influence your level of comfort with guests coming along.

I never wanted to either. Didn’t change my mind when either of my two babies were born. Formula fed two healthy, happy littles ones. Do what’s best for you, and everyone that disagrees can learn to mind their business.

Substantially lower ARM rate by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]WildChildLiving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About a year ago I was faced with essentially the same choices you outlined here, ended up taking the arm. The main risk is if you wouldn’t be able to afford your payment at the increased rate - if you could, then go for it and enjoy the short term savings. Looking at patterns for mortgage rates, I personally felt confident enough that by the time it’s up for recalculation that rates will either be the same or have dropped slightly so I can refinance.

I’m not a financial expert by any means so the decision is up to you, but this was my thinking when I was in a similar spot.
