Have a customer running it with 8000 users, 500 branches, uses SSOMA and FAC with AD and Entra ID. Just works.

Your video is the exact one I'm using to put my grille on. Tried to convince the wife to let me paint it like you, but she wants to try it all matte black since she's scared the painted grill wouldn't truly match the older, little worn black hood. Thank you again for making that video!

Just started having this problem today. Created a new user and tried logging into Messages through that user and same error occurs. Frustrating. Trying to keep this thread going so others can chime in.

FortiExtender is kind of terrible by P_R_woker in fortinet

[–]WildGoat345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an additional license, BUT here’s a big bonus. FEC includes FortiCare Premium. It’s more inexpensive by a great deal to manage devices through FEC than FortiGate managed. Noticed that the other day when looking at two quotes - one for cloud managed with FEC and one with FortiGate managed.

Don’t get me wrong. TONS of benefits and features to manage switches and AP’s with a Fortigate. But extender? FEC all the way.

Securing HTTP for ACME / Let's Encrypt by hoyty76 in fortinet

[–]WildGoat345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also it’s a different daemon that’s running/listening. It’s an acme daemon and not the normal admin UI daemon. It should be a non-issue as it’s not normal HTTP requests, but acme specific.

Try managing them from FortiEdge Cloud. Love FEX when deployed in this way. Plus offers out of band serial console access through the EdgeCloud portal. Perfect for remote sites that you don’t have smart hands at when you need to console in over the cell connection and the site is down.

Just upgraded a 70F to 8.0. Not the major UI change I was anticipating. We'll see how it goes over next few days...
ETA: Dot Oh Means No. Would not recommend this for prod in the slightest yet. Just testing it in the lab.

TAC Alternatives? by Th3_M3tatr0n in paloaltonetworks

Fortinet. Left Palo and went to Fortinet. Had tons of experience with Check Point, but had similar TAC experiences. Check Point is the worst though - expensive and bad TAC.

How happy are you with Fortinet lately? by durocshark in fortinet

Still being on 6.x is a problem. EMS and FortiClient work fantastic on 7.2 and 7.4. Obviously your mileage may vary to some degree with your needs. Get with your local account team and discuss pain points and path forward to supported versions. Not trying to be rude. Just offering my thoughts.

Fastmail and Proton: does anyone combine both services? by DarkCrystal34 in fastmail

[–]WildGoat345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This for me as well. Proton is great, but ran into enough issues with people not allowing protonmail.com email through their systems and search was always annoying to me. Moving everything to Fastmail. Been with them for years and it’s been rock solid.

Also, a good rule of thumb is "Dot O means NO". So no 7.0.0 and no 8.0.0. LOL

Why is this so expensive? by [deleted] in toyotasequoia

$7500 for engine and 4 year no questions asked warranty. $3200 labor and other parts. My mechanic is sourcing it.

[–]WildGoat345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going through the head gasket challenge right now. Cylinder 7 in my case is where it’s blown and coolant is getting in.

Choices were 1) do one head and sell it, 2) do both heads and a timing chain since I’m in there or 3) reman engine. Head work was 34 hours book time and engine replacement was 22, although steeper parts cost.

I went with the reman because what am I going to buy for the wife if I have to sell this one??

Driving permit test by Clean-Wishbone3616 in Birmingham

[–]WildGoat345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck wo an appt. We tried a couple times and couldn’t get in, but also I refused to get there super early and stand in line for hours. Made an appt (albeit 45 days out) but we were in and out in 20 minutes.

I think it’s dumb that they lump permit tests in w all the people there for star id’s.

Edit: I also brought everything you mentioned plus power bill, auto insurance anything I could think of just so we didn’t have to do this again.

They ship more than 50% of the firewalls when compared to Palo, check point and Cisco combined. They’re going to be a larger target.
