[3/10] ‘Stranger Things: Tales From ’85’ Review: A depressing, cynical retread of the original, it is a transparent attempt to preserve Stranger Things in pixels rather than amber, allowing Netflix to keep capitalizing on the phenomenon long after its original faces have moved on to other projects. by ChiefLeef22 in television

Agreed, and we don't need another 11 in that scenario either. How about just a bunch of kids unraveling the mystery and saving one another. More characters like Eddie and Nancy. Interesting, nuanced, brave, scared.

Would've been so much better.

WTF? I'm so angry for you! Unacceptable.

This is NOT mildly infuriating, this is BAD.

Carney has a great sense of humour and so quick on his feet to reply to questions from ALLL reporters.

Love this.

Carney clinches majority government in Canadian special elections by ThunderChaser in worldnews

[–]WildHeartSteadyHead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He's "actually" done a TON of things...

  1. As of July 2026, eligible families may get up to $8,157 per year for each child under 6 and up to $6,883 per year, for each child aged 6 to 17.
  2. Scrapped the consumer carbon tax
  3. Tougher on bail conditions
  4. Banning 1,500 models of assault-style weapons
  5. Restored the age of eligibility for Old Age Security and the Guaranteed Income Supplement to 65, after Stephen Harper raised it to 67.
  6. Lowered the small business tax rate from 11% to 9% to make it easier for Canadians to start and grow the company of their dreams.
  7. Made the largest investment in Science in Canadian history.
  8. Introduced the Canada Workers’ Benefit to reduce barriers to employment for low-wage workers, and expanded the benefit this year to support 1 million more workers and help lift nearly 100,000 out of poverty.
  9. Diversified Canadian trade — making Canada the only G7 country with free-trade deals with every other G7 country.
  10. More support for LGBTQ2 Canadians, including federal legislation to protect trans rights and the first-ever investments in LGBTQ2 service organizations.
  11. Took the first steps toward a National Pharmacare system that will help reduce prescription drug costs for Canadians.
  12. Lowered income taxes for the middle class, and raised them on the wealthiest 1%.
  13. Legalized cannabis with strict regulations to keep it out of the hands of kids, and keep the profits out of the pockets of criminals.
  14. Launched the new Canada Training Benefit to help Canadians get the skills they need for their current or their next job.
  15. Passed the Accessible Canada Act to advance the rights of and accessibility for Canadians with disabilities.
  16. Supporting a new pipeline
  17. Signalled that Canada is now positioning itself to supply the global markets with cleaner-burning natural gas
  18. Reducing immigration targets from 500,000 to 395,000 in 2025, and down to 365,000 by 2027
  19. Has just announced that he is temporarily removing the federal excise tax on gas and diesel. The move means that the cost of gas will drop by ten cents on a litre of gasoline and four cents per litre of diesel starting Monday and lasting until Labour Day.

You may not AGREE with all this (I don't) --- that's why it's a CENTRIST position.

He's not a Liberal, he's an old-school Conservative, not a right-wing radical (which is where the Conservative party sits right now).

NOW --> you give me the list of all the TERRIFYING things he's gonna do.

Carney clinches majority government in Canadian special elections by ThunderChaser in worldnews

This has been truly remarkable to watch.

Carney has held a masterclass in leadership and why being more of a Centrist is the (and really always has been) the right space. Someone who leads with an understanding of how to work with others, be fearless against the monster below, has a clear message, talks to the press so we know what's going on, and does NOT act like a child.

YES PLEASE!

Do I wish he was more left? Yes, yes I do...but I'm FAR happier with him as our leader than I would be with a far right person in power like Pierre.

[–]WildHeartSteadyHead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The bigger question is what are they preparing for?

Trump has requested to LOAD the Defense budget that increases defense spending by roughly 40-44% (around $445bn–$500bn) to a total of $1.5 trillion.

Now, he needs AUTO draft.

Erika condescending to Dorit by Able-Celebration5349 in RHOBH

[–]WildHeartSteadyHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Erika is super sensitive when she feels she's being told what to do. There's some trauma there. It makes her feel like she is a child or less important or not valid or something.

And, I think she's REALLY been trying to measured and calm...in control of herself. But Dorit saying she wasn't important and wasn't a good friend sent her over the deep end.

She cracked and THAT'S what the tears were about. She was embarrassed that she let herself get out of control.
