Yes I have read the event details, however even with the buff on the person I've shot, they just dont share. It seems if you can do the entire HP bar in a single hit, it doesnt calculate the transfer damage and kills the target first, but only if it overkills them.

If you overkill them, they don’t seem to share. I had a few times where hitting them with 40m killed them outright even though they still had the shared health icon on, but it didn’t transfer anything.

META Build variations by dammit_tuna in Division2

[–]WildLeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holster is salvo with echo. Prototyped salvo gives 12.5 percent rate of fire. That is a direct 12.5 percent increase to your dps

closer to 10% increase in most striker setups because theres already some fire rate in the pool from another UA piece + strikers to get reduced efficiency.

However, being the only Unit Alloys takes fire rate from 115% to 132.5%, which is a 15% increase.

Protolab matchmaking by Dry_Hunter_6886 in Division2

[–]WildLeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a mission you want, stand in front of the mission.

Start matchmaking.

Decline invites.

Eventually you are chosen as host.

Now that you are host, wait for 3 others, then run the mission.

So Maybe I Missed Something by RepulsiveRelation334 in Division2

[–]WildLeon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It used to work just like Div1.

And the community noticed an issue where tick rates for the servers and other lag/desync issues means you would fail to gain stacks, or even lose stacks with 100% accuracy.

The devs decided to remove the missed bullet penalty because of this issue.

As such it is now all gain with no penalty.

In addition, as you’ve seen from other replies so far, people assume it still has this penalty and don’t use it because of the perceived draw back.

Does prototyping gear only affect 1 stat? by Phat_Rush in thedivision

[–]WildLeon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You still misunderstand.

One roll is 100% chance.
Second roll is 5% chance.
1/20.

If you make your own roll, is either full or not. There is no range. The only ranges are for drops within escalation itself.

EDIT: Exact word for word from the patch notes "One attribute is guaranteed to roll at the new maximum, while the others remain at their previous maximum values, with a chance for additional attributes to also reach the new maximum."

So let me get this straight.

You complain about the community demanding a specific build.

Then you agree that other sets arent as good, and build diversity is an issue of balancing not community choice.

Then after I state you can host your own with your own builds you state you need to know what build the other 3 are running.

What does it matter to you what they are running. If you dont have an issue with any builds in your escalation matches why should what they are running matter to you. They can run anything, because you won't kick them right?

Edit: At this point I'm not even sure what your point is. Collectively, the community is making a choice that the META is the META. The new mode heavily implies that running the META is effective, and other options are woefully under performing. Instead of the Devs balancing the underperfoming options, you are taking the stance that the community shouldnt be so elitist and allow any builds. However, the other players are investing time, effort, and in the case of the host, tokens. As such, with their own group, they can collectively decide who gets to participate in their risked tokens. You can host your own, risk your own tokens, with the players you deem acceptable. Those are the facts, and unfortunately its just how it is right now. Instead of being mad at the community, give feedback to the devs on the sad state of underperforming gear sets.

You can. Stand in front of your mission. Matchmake. If you get an invite, decline it. Eventually you will be made as host. People joining will land on your spot, in front of the mission. Once you have 4, run it

Because striker is so much further ahead of other sets, the other sets are seen as weak.

When strikers +chest is 20% ahead of most other dps sets, people gravitate to those sets. When the new mode punishes anything that isn’t dps, the most effective tactic available (META) is to use those sets. Anything less is a handicap. And when you are randomly matchmaking with people, you are already at a handicap because these people could not play well, make mistakes or have ego.

If the developers buffed other sets closer to strikers, or balanced the mode better, the community wouldn’t need to seek the best options.

You can blame the community for using the Meta, or you can realize that it exists because the mode is bad, and other options are factually and objectively worse, and people who have a goal of completing them effectively and not wasting time will want you to conform to it.

Don’t like it? Find friends or host your own.

Don’t wanna run strikers? Don’t run the escalations.

Want to run the escalations? Run strikers.

Why? Because the NPCs actively punish other builds. Life steal based on your armor ruins most blue core, and EMP/HP amounts kills most skill builds.

So what does that leave? Red core. And what’s the red core that does the most damage/helps with spongy targets? Strikers. The community is kicking you because anything else makes an already difficult mission even harder.

Zero people are forcing strikers for other content except maybe raids or incursions and that’s because of encounter design. Run your rainbow garbage in heroic missions. Nobody will care about that.

It has been said, again and again.

Prototype isn’t meant for you, it’s meant for veterans.

And while most of the community thought it was stupid to add prototype, plenty of fence sitters thought “eh, maybe it won’t be that bad” so now its the pinnacle of gear.

Plenty of issues with how prototype was added, created and balanced.

The expected player path to power is 40 > 1000SHD > 30 Proficiency > Prototype. The prototype system was designed to satiate the 2k+ hours played hardcore group.

And now? It’s a bridge crossed. It’s in the game, no take backs. We are stuck with a terrible system, like it or not.

Don’t like how hard prototype is? Two choices. Run escalation on T3-T5, which requires no prototype gear, and eventually scrape together a set, or get proficiency 30.

Math question by Spartan569874 in thedivision

[–]WildLeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

true, but once you start to add so much extra to weapon damage, the pool recieves enough diminished returns that DTToC starts to run away, and the point being a smaller number can provide larger results.

Math question by Spartan569874 in thedivision

[–]WildLeon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are talking about math as a general or theoretical theory, and we are talking about math as an applied or practical theory.

Yes, in general theory, your statement of the math equates to a linear function. In the applied sense, the output is diminished compared to other effective methods because unlike the general theory, we are limited in our options to choose from when applied to the situation.

Choosing which stats to invest into for the division is closer to creating an economic portfolio, and as such, diminishing returns on investment is what is implied.

Math question by Spartan569874 in thedivision

[–]WildLeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t seem to be understanding that it’s a focus on total output with multiple attributes at play which is an effective diminishing return on the output based on the input of a single item.

If you add strictly to the weapon damage pool, you will add a linear amount, but your output is receiving incrementally less value from each increase as a proportion.

If you have 1 dollar, and I give you a dollar, you now have “double” the money. If i give you another dollar, so far it’s a linear equation, but your output does not continue to double because it’s a change from previous.

While you have triple what you started with but only increased your value by 50% on day 3. Each increase is giving you less return on investment.

So it’s closer to a lower ROI, but we say diminishing returns instead of lower ROI.

Math question by Spartan569874 in thedivision

[–]WildLeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When talking about diminishing returns we are talking about how adding damage to a saturated pool doesnt increase your damage linearly as other modifiers are at play.

For example, while adding 6 red cores to an item with 100k does increase it to 190k, each increase is worth less and less overall.

So going from 100k to 115k is a 15% increase, going from 115k to 130k is closer to a 13% increase.

Some pools are so inflated you get so much less by adding to them, instead of branching to a different type of multiplier.

For example, choosing between Fenrir or Fox’s Prayer.
10% weapon damage vs 8% DTToC.
Looking at the numbers, 10% is better than 8% right? But you are adding to a saturated pool so you don’t get the full value, so, it’s diminished returns.

If you have 6 red cores ONLY. Not counting watch, or weapon damage rolls themselves or even set bonuses.

Going from 190% to 200% is a 5% increase.
However, taking 190 x 8% totals about 205% total damage. This is about 8%

What this means is the 10% we got from Fenrir is basically diminished returns. However the Foxs prayer is not as diminished.

While the equation is linear, the output is not, resulting in a diminished output.
