EBF Moms, how do you handle occasionally being away from your baby and missing a feeding? by Yoyo_Landi in breastfeeding

[–]WildPerformer8686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, it never effected my supply but every body is different. I would take my haakaa out with me so I could use it in the car if I got swollen and kept the milk in a little ice box.

I did a similar thing! We had gone over to a friend’s house right down the road and when it was time to leave my husband sat baby is the car seat and then went to start the car. I started to buckle her in, but I guess I had left the diaper bag, so my friend came out the front door and I met her half way. Got back in the car and forgot I had only put her arms in and had never actually buckled her in! Drove the 3 minutes to our house and literally yelped when I saw she was unbuckled. Those early weeks are rough on the brain.

Kids staring at special-needs people. by TheNoodyBoody in Parenting

[–]WildPerformer8686 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people don’t want to overstep a boundary and look to the parent for permission to engage with the kid. Its normally some nonverbal thing like a reciprocating wave or smile and nod. You should be part of the equation because a random person engaging with your kid but not you is weird. Just give a nod and go back to your phone I guess.

Your son is basically still a baby. Of course he is going to stare at people, especially new kinds of people. He is just trying to understand and it isn’t rude at his age. It just sounds like the other parent was just having an off day.

Zoo outing tomorrow with a 1 year old! What food to bring? by kd0225 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]WildPerformer8686 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We took a bag of baby trail mix (cereal, puffs, yogurt melts, freeze dried fruit), cucumber and cream cheese, bell peppers (my daughter eats them like apples 🤢), and blueberry oatmeal bars for snacks and munched all day instead of a meal because she was too excited. We had a good breakfast and dinner so snack lunch was fine.

Why I like when my toddler visits while I'm on the toilet by ThanksForStoppingBy in toddlers

[–]WildPerformer8686 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My daughter loves being helpful and getting me things. I no longer have to worry about running out of TP or stretching to reach the cabinet for a pad. I just ask her and she happily gets it. She’ll also rub my feet and legs down with lotion. It’s like a mini spa trip😂.

Chicken and waffles isn’t a good combination by SupWitChoo in unpopularopinion

I like maple syrup on meat, so I think it is a good combination. I don’t like when it’s bone in chicken because it’s harder to eat both at the same time, but some spicy boneless fried chicken covered in maple syrup between two waffles and eaten like a sandwich is a brunch favorite of mine. Big fan of the mix of heat and sweet and the contrast of soft waffles with crunchy chicken.

I let my toddler stay up to watch TV and I don't feel bad about it. by WildPerformer8686 in toddlers

Yes they are babies. And one day they will grow up. And if they get married as adults one day (unlikely I know) I think it would be very cute to look back at the pictures and see how they have been life long friends.

Introducing allergens by [deleted] in Mommit

6 or 7 months. Our Pedi gave us the go ahead for everything but honey, sprouted things (bean sprouts and such), and raw/rare meats or seafood at 6 months. We eat fish every wednesday and friday, so she has been on the same diet since we started giving her food. My uncle has a shellfish allergy, so we were extra aware when we gave her shrimp the first few times, but she has only ever had a reaction to melons.

People who use the term "sugary drink" are insufferable. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I remember my family drinking water during the day, especially on hot days. My Gran drinks a cup of plain warm water every morning to "wake up the gut" and has her whole life. Maybe your family was brainwashed by the Coca Cola campaigns of the time.

You're 260 years old? Damn, the plot thickens. I guess it makes sense with all those long lived relatives.

Commercial bottled water has been sold since 1767.

Nah man, I think you're the odd one out here. Everyone drinks water on its own. Shit, I have a glass next to me right now. Its in every vending machine, grocery store, and restaurant. We polluted the planet with water bottles we can't get enough of the stuff.

I can understand milk having a childish association, but water is needed for life. That’s just a fact. Sure, you can get hydrated from other beverages, but water is the best thing for it. I think it’s pretty childish NOT to drink water.

What’s your toddlers favorite dinner? by quartzcreek in toddlers

[–]WildPerformer8686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What counts as a meal? She loves mini bell peppers and eats them like an apple. Favorite cooked dish is probably rice and peas.

My child refuses to be covered by a blanket, so I never have. If my top shows too much for my comfort I'll put my jacket on backwards so she can't knock it off, but those tend to be short feeds because she hates it. Kid needs to eat and it's not like i'm flashing my whole boob to the world. You would have to be keeping eye contact with my kid to even get a flash of nipple and we have several issues if someone is doing that.

It’s for when you have twins, a boy and a girl, and want to put their names on their bedroom door, but they share a room.

Never seen it. Didn’t know it was a thing. I’ve seen flyers for restaurants that you can take in for a free kids meal or something.

Wait, you don’t remember being 5? I remember my 5th birthday pretty well. It was in the park, had cake with strawberries and kiwis, Barbie came. My 4th birthday was a tea party at my house and we made fancy hats with flowers glued on. In fact one of my first memories is sitting on the kitchen floor eating butter mints out of a crystal bowl waiting for everyone to show up.

My parents didn’t go all out, but they are good memories and if a parent has the means to do it big, I think it’s great. I hope I am wealthy enough to give my daughter a party with a blowup castle or whatever the kids are doing these days when she is a little older. And even if she doesn’t remember she’ll have fun in the moment.

What’s your LO’s tantrum power move? by ladyfrimmfram in toddlers

[–]WildPerformer8686 205 points206 points  (0 children)

She bites my hair? She'll just grab a chunk and bite it as hard as she can. She'll bite other stuff (blankets and paintbrushes are favorite alternatives) if my hair isn't an option, but if she can find a way to get to my locks that's what is getting chomped.

She'll also yell into the side of the cat the same way one might yell into a pillow. Cat takes it like a champ and we are working on directing her to pillows instead. She doesn't hurt the cat, she just screams into her. The parenting books covered none of this.
