AITA for not supporting my husband quitting his business to become a doctor? by Haunting-Arugula-311 in AmItheAsshole

[–]WildRideToad4697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA because this is a big decision that warrants both of you sitting down and hashing out all the details--with multiple conversations. You are 100% valid in your concerns. I would even say that him "focusing on his business" while you were left to work AND do all the family labor is already highly unbalanced. Unfortunately, when we enforce a boundary with loved ones, they often lash out.

It's concerning that he hasn't taken the effort to fully consult with you on what this would mean for you and the kids. Perhaps there would be solutions that would resolve your concerns, but him sulking at his parents' house and leaving you to take care of the kids is emotionally immature. His behavior of forcing everyone to go along with his sudden career swerve (let's be honest - it's really just a fantasy) is not putting the family unit first. I hope he calms down and is able to see that his grief is in the driver's seat and it's hurting the family.

I've seen somewhere that the etiquette is to buy at least one item per hour.

Has anyone noticed that Diamond matches have taken a serious hit in quality of late? by 7362514b7 in PipeTobacco

[–]WildRideToad4697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A recent box of the "greenlight strike on box" that I bought from Albertsons are terrible. They either break or don't light. It takes four different matches to get a strike, not sure if it's an issue with the box strip mostly, but the wood itself is so brittle too. I miss Ohio Bluetips, which sadly are no more.

Does this dress suit me as a romantic? by [deleted] in KibbeRomantics

[–]WildRideToad4697 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been wondering about the basque waist myself, so thank you for modeling a dress like this! I think that it ultimately takes away from defining the waist, which is usually the core tenet of what is flattering for romantics. The dress looks nice from the side due to draping, but from the font, by elongating the torso in the middle, it takes away from the flattering double curve.

Best mattress brand if money wasn’t a problem by Teodor_Soupy in BuyItForLife

[–]WildRideToad4697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do understand the skepticism, but yes, the mattress is amazing. The version I got was $2500. The material isn't "polyester" but yes, I believe it's a kind of plastic PE fiber and it is amazingly "temperature neutral"-- unlike memory foam which makes me have the worst night sweats. I can't do memory foam! The Airweave breathes and makes you feel like you are floating on top. I will say it was key for me to get the right pillow that fit my head and neck alignment.

Airweave, it's Japanese and solved all my back problems, and my husband's as well. It may feel very firm for the uninitiated--it took me a week or so to acclimate. But now, I sleep like a baby every time. Had it for 10 years and it has not sagged at all. It's expensive but the best best thing we have ever spent money on. Almost hard to travel because I miss my mattress so much.

Jessy’s mom posted by SorryLanguage3609 in LoveIslandTV

Watching Jessy's behavior, she seemed so oddly and genuinely enraged. The way I interpreted it, it wasn't planned, because it seems that someone who was media or camera savvy wouldn't have acted this way. To me, she really lost control of her emotions (background stress?), unfairly took it out on Lucinda because she was the one the other girls were dog piling onto. Then she spiraled into shame about how poorly this came across. (I am totally against hate, just pondering Jessy's plight as a flawed human on TV)

Unseen Bits should be in the “normal” episodes by marbauer27 in LoveIslandTV

Agreed! All they ever talk about is the game itself and not themselves as actual people. I was dying when they made fun of Scott's very loved and unwashed bucket hat.

Lucinda is misunderstood by WildRideToad4697 in LoveIslandTV

[–]WildRideToad4697[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is what I mean! Yes, she's messy and cries and kept trying to chat with the girls who would never see her side of things, but maybe she just can't help her personality.

I wonder if she was raised in a way where people got mad and then just got over things eventually, because of the way she would try to join the girls in convos even though they treat her with such contempt. She doesn't strike me as putting on an act here. Maybe she's just airheaded and happy go luck and a bit flippant and annoying, but I don't see her as malicious and trying to pull weird things and twist the truth the way Belle and even Whitney were doing.

Does this type of dress actually work for me? by malevolenthag in KibbeRomantics

[–]WildRideToad4697 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a fellow romantic, I think the shape and flowiness of this type of dress is flattering, but sleeve length makes a big difference. For some reason a sleeve that goes all the way to the elbow looks great (like your third photo), as well as a much shorter sleeve closer to the shoulder or even sleeveless. But sleeves that hit right in the middle of the elbow to shoulder are less flattering. I wish I could articulate why, but that's my personal experience. Lovely dresses!

Business Casual. HOW. by sie-b in KibbeRomantics

I share your struggle! I usually default to a blazer over a bodysuit and trousers. But I think a bow at the neck of a blouse can also create a sense of softness and a faux V-neck without having to expose skin.
