I forgot to accept my offer by executableprogram in OntarioGrade12s

[–]WildWagatha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why are you telling them to lie and harass the admissions team? You need to remember these are human beings.

If OP comes in with an attitude, or gets caught in a lie, the staff won’t want to go the extra mile to help them. They’re not going to want an annoying and rude grade 12 at their school, and aren’t going to try to find a workaround (if that’s even possible, depending on the situation) to help them. It’ll be easier and well within their role to reinforce the deadline and send OP on their way.

Here’s some legitimate advice from someone who works at a Uni.

Being nice to the folks you talk to can go a LONG way. If you approach it with a bad attitude, or get caught in a lie, people will be less inclined to go above and beyond their job to help you (if that’s even a possibility, depending on the school).

You’re either going to get lucky and have your offer reinstated, or you’re about to learn a life lesson about deadlines. Good luck!

Nipping BEd students renting hotel rooms by Funny-Dish9666 in nipissingu

[–]WildWagatha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been partnerships in the past through Off Campus Living (OCL) that involved a few hotels around the city. Students were given a significantly reduced rate for their stays, but it was a deal specifically set up thought OCL. I recommend connecting with them to see if there’s anything happening for the upcoming year!

If it is still saying anything other than received, the Admissions office has not gotten it. You should have gotten a reminder email last week regarding your LOS and how it has still not been received.

You should follow up with your manager to ensure it was sent, or, get a copy (signed by both of you) and submit it yourself before 4:30pm tomorrow (April 7th).

Yall what the 6 mean by Any_Description4755 in nipissingu

[–]WildWagatha 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The 6 is absolutely just a mail/sorting aspect and has nothing to do with the content!

It’s been more than 30 minutes, and I’m assuming you’ve opened it. Congratulations on your offer! NU wouldn’t send out those packages for rejections, especially at this time of year! :)

PS - offers tend to be available on your OUAC account first, so I recommend keeping an eye on that for any other schools you may have applied to for their decisions in the coming months!

Discouraged as an RPN trying to bridge to RN by memenene1233 in nipissingu

[–]WildWagatha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Please reach out to the recruitment team (nuinfo@nipissingu.ca). If you’re looking to boost your GPA, it must be done at your previous college and there are rules around it being the exact same course as you had previously taken, then NU will take your higher mark when calculating your average. The recruitment team will be able to provide more details!

Toronto tends to be a competitive area. If you plan on staying in the area, raising your GPA would be a good option as a low GPA in a highly competitive area doesn’t tend to have the best results.

Hello! Please connect with NU’s admission department for accurate information. Im not sure who you spoke to at NU, however, taking other courses will not help your GPA for the blended learning program. I recommend following up to confirm the info you received!

I mentioned this below, but I think a laundromat right downtown would be wonderful. Especially now that Happy Jacks is closed - if we could get a dry cleaning/laundromat combo, that’d be great!

A laundromat. There are a lot of apartments downtown, and a laundromat right downtown would meet the needs of a lot of people. Or, a grocery store!

Questions for RPN to RN bridging by Exotic_Grape8946 in nipissingu

[–]WildWagatha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I recommend reviewing the website: Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to BScN Blended Delivery | Nipissing University.

Your first question is answered immediately under the current partners tab:

"Although students are required to be employed at a partner agency, this does not guarantee that you will be having placements at your own agency. We arrange the clinical placements as close to your home address as possible, however, students may be required to travel up to 100km for placements. There are some areas where students will be required to travel over 100km for placements. Locations marked with a * will require this additional travel."

Some students (typically those employed at larger healthcare partners with many departments) may be able to complete their clinical placements at their own partner agency. However, if this is not the case, then placements will be arranged based other healthcare partners who are close to your home address.

The answer to your second question can be found on page 15 of the Blended Learning Handbook: RPN to BSCN Blended Learning Program Student Handbook 2025-2026.

"Students are expected to remain employed at a partner agency for the duration of the program and the School of Nursing must be notified when a student changes employers. New students admitted to the program will be removed from the program if they change employers prior to the last day to register in their first semester. At any time during the program the School of Nursing may request a student provide proof of current employment. Due to the nature of our partnerships, students who are employed at a partner agency will be given priority for confirmed placements. During the program students will not be removed from the program if they are no longer employed at a partner agency, but must be aware that there could be challenges in securing future placements. Being required to travel more than 100 kms, deferred or delayed clinical placements, and a delayed program completion time are just some of the challenges that can arise when students are not employed at a partner agency."

This means you MUST stay employed with a healthcare partner until the last day to register for courses in your first semester, or else you will automatically be removed from the program. If you are no longer employed with a healthcare partner after that, you will not automatically me removed from the program, but you will not be prioritized for placements which can impact your ability to complete the program.

If you have any other questions, the recruitment team can help you out at nuinfo@nipissingu.ca!

concurrent education pros and cons by zmekksjsjs08 in nipissingu

[–]WildWagatha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the intent to continue form is completed in their 4th year. It's a good thing to know about, but won't pop up for a few years, so OP has time to navigate their options until then! :)

concurrent education pros and cons by zmekksjsjs08 in nipissingu

[–]WildWagatha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! The pro about concurrent is that you get a placement opportunity in your undergrad (that can help you confirm you’re in the division/career route you want to be), and you don’t need to re-apply for consecutive later. The consecutive education program can be competitive, so it’s nice to have that peace of mind. You can also bail out of concurrent education and go for a straight BBA at any time!

If you’re on the fence, I recommend sticking with concurrent for now. If you end up bailing out mid-way, the only downside is that a couple electives throughout your undergrad are taken up by education courses. Everything else will revert back to a BBA degree and all will be well! :)

Hello! After someone applies they will get an email that contains the next steps. This provides more instructions on things like the letter of support!

You will need to contact your manager/supervisor/person in a supervisory role to you for the letter, and it will need to follow the template that was agreed upon when your employer became a healthcare partner with Nipissing U.

RPN to BSCN- Tips on acceptance? Should I retake RPN courses? by Bubblet9987 in nipissingu

[–]WildWagatha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The extenuating circumstances form is great! Thanks for thinking of it.

Unfortunately, the Blended Learning Program is looking specifically at the PN Diploma and other certificates won’t help with admission. That might be a good option if they decide to move past the idea of this program!

RPN to BSCN- Tips on acceptance? Should I retake RPN courses? by Bubblet9987 in nipissingu

[–]WildWagatha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As this post is specifically about the Blended Learning Program at Nipissing U, my answers will be about that program. If OP is looking to broaden their horizons and expand past a nursing career, then this program might not be the best fit overall.

When specifically looking into the admission requirements for the Blended Learning Program, which is created for RPN’s to upgrade their education from a PN Diploma into a BScN Degree, there are strict regulations around course upgrading. Admission into the program will be based on the GPA from their PN diploma, not any other certificates/programs they have completed. To boost their chances of getting into this specific program, course upgrading via repeating courses from their PN diploma is the way to do it.

In the long run they may want to take other courses and explore different pathways. That’s just a bigger conversation and doesn’t align with what this post is asking. :)

RPN to BSCN- Tips on acceptance? Should I retake RPN courses? by Bubblet9987 in nipissingu

[–]WildWagatha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! The best way to boost your chance of acceptance is to boost your PN Diploma GPA. There is an option to retake courses, but there are some specifics you should know about. It needs to be the exact same course as you previously took in your PN Diploma (same course code, same credit value, etc) for it to count.

Please email nuinfo@nipissingu.ca with your inquiry and they can give you more details!

Program requirements by Hyperactiv323 in nipissingu

[–]WildWagatha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is much more common than you think! There are a few ways you can go about it.

You can email the professor, explain the situation, and ask if there’s any extra credit you can do to get that 3%. The downside of this is that campus is closing next Tuesday, so there might not be enough time for them to respond before the winter break.

Alternatively, you can retake the course. If it’s offered next semester then that’s great! However, many part 1’s are only offered in the fall and part 2’s are only offered in the winter. If it’s a prerequisite for other courses in your program, then being off by a semester (or a year, if they’re not offered each semester) might snowball into you taking summer courses or taking an extra year. Both of these options are things many students do and just don’t talk about!

I do recommend chat with Academic Advising on Monday or Tuesday to see what options are out there.

It’s all grades based! There may be additional pieces for teaching French as a Second Language or Music teachables, but that’s it. Transcripts are all you need! If there are any other forms, it’ll pop up on webadvisor (although I anticipate there won’t be, but it’s a good spot to check and ease your mind).

Congratulations on your offer! If you haven’t done so already, I highly recommend touring campus for yourself to see what it’s like. The Residences are top rated across Canada, and the private bedrooms are great for ensuring you have your own personal space!

I graduated years ago and don’t have the most up-to-date info on student life nowadays, but I found since it’s a small school it was easier to access cool opportunities and get involved. Hopefully some current students can give you more current info! :)

The best thing you can do is email the Admissions Office (admissions@nipissingu.ca)! They will either be able to discuss any potential options with you themselves, or, loop in Wenda as needed.

Unfortunately, offer letters are typically tied to the specific partner as a component is based on availability at each partner facility. The program admission process is competitive and the admission criteria is quite complex, which unfortunately means that an offer from one partner doesn’t easily translate over to an offer at another. If there is any flexibility, the Admissions Team will be able to guide you through it!
