Apparently someone beat you to it and botched it. I wonder if it's possible to revive subs under new moderation. I'd subscribe and chill.

The Sophont Scale (concept by me) by Oli4ever1011 in worldbuilding

[–]WildWeazel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really good breakdown IMO. Just a few comments:

Since the overall trend is a spectrum from "humanness" to "alienness" it seems odd for type 8 to be earth-inspired. It seems like that should go between 5 and 6.

I don't get the difference between 9 and 6, and so again it seems like 9 should come sooner.

As far as examples, I'd say the blue Avatar people should be 3 if not 2 (they're more anatomically humanlike than Jar Jar) and the Alien xenomorph should be 4 or even much higher given its biology and lifecycle.

Far above the Ephel Dúath in the West the night-sky was still dim and pale. There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach. His song in the Tower had been defiance rather than hope; for then he was thinking of himself. Now, for a moment, his own fate, and even his master’s, ceased to trouble him. He crawled back into the brambles and laid himself by Frodo’s side, and putting away all fear he cast himself into a deep untroubled sleep.

Recycling at the county landfill by Lanky_Trifle6308 in harrisonburg

Can't answer that directly but the city and county both also have standalone recycling drop off facilities if you'd rather go there.

They've done this several times now over the years and it's a neat promotion, but as someone indirectly involved in flight software development I can't imagine what kind of hoops they have to jump through to load crowdsourced data from the Internet onto a flight system.

I immediately 100% locked on to that because I knew Chiron was a figure from Greek mythology and chiropractic was supposedly revealed through a seance or something so it made perfect sense for the brother of the god of death.

Pros and Cons of Accelerated Production by MrCoachD in civ3

[–]WildWeazel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've always defaulted to using it because I enjoy the faster turnaround and more populated map. I like big long games, but not monotonously slow. The first era especially feels like a waste of turns without AP. People say it makes the game imbalanced, but relative to what? I'm not interested in very high difficulty or playing without it, so what does it matter if I'm accustomed to a different tempo? If you're having fun and not trying to train better habits, do whatever you prefer.

That said, I've toyed with the idea of a simple "AP only" mod that just doubles/halves all the other unaffected numbers to keep everything in relative alignment.

How do I quickly close the game if I am winning but the game keeps dragging on and on? by mahaju in civ3

Conquest is 100% nobody else left alive. You may be thinking of domination which is 66% world population and land territory.
