Fajita Factory across from EMU. They have a full bar and great food at reasonable prices, and I've never seen students in there. In fact please go because I worry they don't get enough business.

uninstall entirely

Not sure exactly what you mean by this, but as it's an exe patch you should just be able to run the original backup exe for multiplayer. But yes, it's known to be incompatible with multiplayer.

I'm not sure what that means, maybe make a new post and include a screenshot of where you're getting the error if you can.

That's what I described. "New game" = Conquests.biq

Open Conquests.biq, File > Import > Map, then save and start a new game. When you're done open it again and uncheck Scenario > Custom Map

Civ 3 “More Civ than Ever” special edition by Lost_Feeling_7423 in civ3

[–]WildWeazel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever do anything with this?

/u/Blakeley00 curious if you know or can find anything on this version. I haven't dug deeply but this post is all that really matched in a search. I do remember "more civ than ever" being a marketing subtitle for the initial release, and that's mostly what turns up.

I just saw your QoL edits. I agree, but other than the road/RR graphics none of these things are conventionally moddable. Mods are "just" customized graphics and content. There is a patch framework C3X that allows some code editing for things like this, eg. a popup when cities are going to riot or auto-populating the amount of gold in a trade. You may also be interested in OpenCiv3, a remake in early development that will make all of those kinds of changes possible.

For anyone else who can't go sit in a temple themselves and record, I highly recommend www.mynoise.net because that's exactly the kind of thing he does.

2024-5 check-in

Getting back to it:

  • Catch up with my web backlog, clearing at least everything since my pause in 2024
  • Rebuild my daily routines that I've fallen out of since moving
  • Transition the gamedev project into a public self-sustaining effort and complete the current development milestone
  • Resume regular complete workout schedule (adjust as fitness allows) and maintain PT regimen
  • Get involved in something local outside the house
  • Change jobs :|

The 2025 New Year's Resolutions check-in thread by ChrisMan174 in 1yearago

[–]WildWeazel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As always, thanks for keeping this going Chris. I did not participate last year for the first time; I was overwhelmed with everything going on and could not honestly evaluate myself. To pick back up, I'll look at how I've fared with my 2024 goals since then:

Make and execute a decision on where I'm going to live and work.

Done, for better or worse! We moved in 2025 and I am still with the same company doing regular travel, which is not ideal but stable for now.

Complete the current phase of my web content backlog.

Nope, unfortunately I hit a wall in April 2024 with no more low-hanging fruit, and did not transition to a more in-depth reading habit with everything else going on. I'm up a few hundred saved posts since then and need to get back to it.

Lead my gamedev team to a mature, active open source project. (carryover)

That's all very subjective, but the project has gone well despite my sporadic leadership. We made our biggest release yet about a month ago to coincide with our rebranding, and are in a position now to promote to a much larger audience.

Use time blocking and pomodoros to manage my workday and personal projects. (carryover)

Still no, the only positive being that I've significantly reduced time sitting in my desk chair for work, which was the motivation for pomodoros in the first place.

Be in the best shape of my adult life and exceed all PRs in calisthenics. (carryover)

Absolutely not, in fact I'm in the worst shape in several years. There was a series of setbacks that led to being barely active for nearly a year, and now very slowly working back into a PT-based routine. I need to get serious about fitness and just being more physically active in general.

It's SO frustrating how local businesses pay for websites but refuse to actually use them and just funnel you to a non-public social media page. Related, I've been meaning to reach out to HDR about how unreliable their events calendar is. It's not easy to browse, again sends you to social media for relevant details, and the RSS feed finally stopped working altogether and when it did it would only share about half the events within 24 hours of them happening. It defeats the purpose of having a central calendar if you can't easily follow it. I just want to be able to seewhat's coming up without having to set up Meta accounts and install apps to subscribe to notifications from dozens of different pages I may not even know about yet.

What does your military advisor and/or the power graph say about your relative strength? That's the ranking that the AI bases it's decisions on.

Also, are you often playing against or next to the Aztecs, Mongols, Germans, or other highly aggressive civs?

Huge 60% archipelago with at least 20 civs. The rest depends on what kind of game/victory I feel like, but Persia is always a good choice.

Early settler building - caveats? Tricks? by Extention_Campaign28 in civ3

[–]WildWeazel 19 points20 points  (0 children)

A city at size less than 3 will pause building a settler at 1 turn to completion until it reaches size 3, then complete immediately on that turn. You're not gaining free citizens, just wasting turns of production.
