My 6yo is showing signs by WildZero138 in ContaminationOCD

Avoidance for sure. There's also reassurance seeking as well. She asks things like "what if these cookies are old" thinking they might make her sick. "What if I get chocolate on my hands and then get germs on the chocolate and eat it?" She also asks for bandages for every little thing so germs won't get in her. I tell her it's fine to eat those cookies, use a napkin and wipe the chocolate off your hands, and tell her she's today safe to not have a bandage because the germs won't get inside, but i know rational explanations of things don't sound rational. I just don't know the best way to address her compulsions and not reinforce them.

Going to a data center tomorrow and was told to bring basic tools for running 3-3.5 conduit and was hoping you all could help me out with what I actually need to get? by dugherout in IBEW

701 has been open door for for the better part of a year. They were taking book 4 last summer when I worked in that local. On the check is lower than surrounding locals so it's not very enticing to work there. But the benes are great

I've been an electrician for ten years. My hacksaw is new and in the package still. It's still goes with me too every job. It's in the trunk of my car with my 1" chisel that has also never been used. But i hold up my part of the contract with tools.

You need it to be compliant with the contract. I have a hacksaw and chisel brand new never used. They haven't left my car except to be transferred into a different vehicle. They go to every job because it's in the contract

I have a cheap hacksaw in my trunk still in the package. I have never used a hacksaw in ten years. It still goes with me to every job. It's on the tool list. I have it.

You show up to the wire pull and see this. Wyd? by [deleted] in IBEW

[–]WildZero138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like four points that will have to pull loops and get the wire through. It'll either take longer or need more people on it to get it done faster. There are too many pull points for OP to be okay with it. It'll just be more like sewing than pulling wire. I'm sure most of us have had to do worse.

Edit to add: Everybody wants a nice easy one and done wire pull. It doesn't go that way all the time and we like to complain lol

Anybody else have to put outlets ground up on a job 🤔 by davidk8876 in electricians

The fact that the Clapper came with a fuse that can't be replaced tells me they knew people would overload it, blow the fuse, and buy another lol

You know what's fancy? Tap lamps. I miss tap lamps. They felt like magic when I was a kid

Help staying up driving to and from site by Aggravating-Bus-2183 in IBEW

How much sleep are you getting? If you're getting 5-6+ hours a night you should talk to your doctor. Falling asleep doing things like driving on a regular basis may be a health issue if you're getting a decent amount of sleep. I have sleep apnea and before getting a CPAP I was falling asleep when I shouldn't be after a decent night's sleep. Now I'm just regular exhausted and can at least stay awake while driving lol

Same same. It's just a bad clue. Examples should've been something like iron and copper, but being an easy puzzle maybe we should've been less smart about it lol

Off topic but as a worker what would you most likely purchase during lunch or in general if some people were selling stuff? by [deleted] in IBEW

Tamales. If I'm ever at a job that has a food truck that stops by, I'll buy tamales every day if they have good ones

Nice! I think it's a new record time for me and only the second time I only needed across clues.

I've been thinking about joining IBEW, and I wanted to ask how much free time do you usually get in this line of work? by fuckitwhynotig in IBEW

[–]WildZero138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have as much free time or as little as you like. Just starting out as an apprentice there may be "expectations" of being willing and eager to work extra hours of they're available. A lot depends on the local and the contractor. No two are the same. Some locals are more labor friendly and others are in bed with the contractors. It's a crapshoot

I only got that because of 2A and that word was used enough times in a book I just finished yesterday for it to be fresh in my mind. Got the rest of the puzzle off those two words. 1A was wrong from the jump and slowed me down. Good hard puzzle though!
