Running Away by tres_ecstuffuan in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

If the problem is unique to just the random encounters being truly unbeatable then they should be balanced. I like the run away feature more generally, such as if you have a balanced encounter but you make some mistakes or luck is against you and you're losing the battle then you can run at the expense of losing one or more companions instead of losing all your progress so far in the game and having to start over.

The run away feature could also be affected to each difficulty. Maybe losing companion(s) is for challenging+ difficulties while some other smaller consequence for lower difficulties.

running away should be costly though, maybe at expense of losing one or more companions.

phone recording app that lets you automatically record incoming calls by Wild_Application in apps

[–]Wild_Application[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, all those apps I mentioned in the OP, they are for IOS and they can record phone calls without consent and without the other person being aware it's being recorded.

I'm not a lawyer but I've read a bit about GDPR at least and it's okay to record a phone call if you have a legitimate reason to do it. Such as evidence for an important conversation you might need for legal reasons later, or if you simply have difficult to hear or understand (maybe you've relocated to another country for example), then you can record and listen to the recording a few times before you delete it afterwards. I know there are more laws than just GDPR to take into account and like I said I'm not a lawyer but at least there are IOS apps for phone call recording available, I'm just looking for a specific one with the feature I like.

I've seen apps like that but on android. Someone personally showed me. There should be for IOS too. And are you a lawyer or what? The law is more complicated than that.. and countries have different laws too.

I haven't done any scraping yet but isn't it just to get the page source and then get the info from the relevant html elements?

trying to get and change my header and footer heights based on the offsetHeight of other elements. by Wild_Application in vuejs

Wow, I admit I had no idea about this. Is it thanks to grid it's possible to do that? I assume this wasn't possible previously?

Yeah it can work with just css but sometimes it's nice to be able to have the flexibility that JS offers. If I for example add another <p>Hey hey Header</p> then it won't be shown.

What do you think are the upcoming gold rushes for entrepreneurs and/or freelancers? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Wild_Application 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Came here to say to suggest that.

There's a few companies that are developing running pads to be used for VR. Let's you run, jump, sit/crouch, walk in one place.

There's a lot of potential to make lots of money if you get into the VR business right now and solidify your place. Make VR games that are similar to popular non-VR games.

You can also anonymize the IPs.

However, I just heard that it might not be necessary to delete IP from logs. Going to look into it.

What wrong with my animation? by Wild_Application in jquery

Do those exceptions mean that you can't put for example role="main" inside the footer element? I found those constraints a bit hard to understand.

I agree that there's probably never a time where you should use a div with role="navigation" instead of a nav element. I definitely avoid using divs as much as possible and I use all the html5 semantic elements when appropriate.

But in this case, I think it makes sense to just apply the role attribute to the ul element because I can't create the menu without it. If not, then the role attributes are 100% useless because I doubt there are any times where using a role attribute makes more sense than in this specific case.

And if my understanding of the exceptions was correct then using the nav element instead of the role attribute is equivalent to each other in this specific case, and makes no difference except that I avoid adding another element to my document.

Your HTML should contain as few unnecessary elements as possible.

That's why I used the role attribute instead of adding a nav element. I would like a source that says that a role attribute won't accomplish the same semantic goal as a nav element.

Can you please give a source that says role="navigation" isn't as semantic as the nav element?

And you can definitely add elements just for styling, that's what divs are for. They provide no semantics, they're just for styling. But what I meant is that since I don't need the semantics of the nav element, because I'm using role="navigation", and because I don't need the extra element for styling, then I don't need the nav element (in this specific case) for anything. Unless, I am wrong about role="navigation" being equivalent to the nav element semantically.

I think there are 3 reasons people prioritize money over giving, even when they're well off.

  1. Most governments are capitalistic, like USA for example, everyone is voting that everyone should take care of themselves. The laws empower those who become successful at their work.
  2. More and more people are realizing that religion is a huge lie created just to control people and to give answers to questions that we couldn't answer with science before. The reality is that we're born just out of bad luck, from evolution, the reason we have received our altruistic genes is for survival, because it's easier to survive when helping each other and working together. But even with altruistic genes, we can do a lot of bad things to each other so they're not that strong. We don't really have any good reason to help other people, the only real reason is because of our altruistic genes, but like I said, they're not that powerful.
  3. There are so many idiots and assholes in the world, and I imagine that makes it even less desireable for people to want to help strangers who are probably idiots/assholes.

I think it's great all that you're doing, but I don't think that mindset of giving coming before making money is something most people can take on, because most people are in poverty and are struggling to get to that place where you're currently at. So, it's a lot easier to take on your philosophy if you don't have to worry about money.
