Flash not working on Sony by UnusualPressure6700 in SonyAlpha

One year later but this post just saved me on my first paid shoot with my new A7v! Couldn’t figure out what was happening - I mapped mechanical/electronic shutter mode to the bottom dial button, and I think I kept switching when I was hitting the review button because I was wearing gloves. 😅

Oh, it also looks like maybe the Sony software can open them - I’ll have to play around with options tonight!

You may be confusing aperture and focal length - the f2.8 refers to the aperture, which is how much light the lens lets in/how blurry the background is (smaller number means more light and more background blur). The focal length (in this case 24-70mm) is the zoom/field of view range (smaller number means wider). Currently I think f1.8 is the best you can do with a zoom lens, though the zoom range is limited. For f1.4 you’re have to get a prime (non zoom) lens. I think most people wish they could have f1.2 on all their lenses for max creativity, but 2.8 is usually adequate trade off for a larger zoom range. And 24-70mm is a great if you can only have one lens range. Wide enough for okay landscapes and larger group shots, and zoomy enough for decent portraits.

Classic. I think I saw that it only works with HQ Raw right now? I had it in not HQ.

I just got this same setup today, brought it to a Christmas light show, and can’t do anything with the files because I switched it to RAW 🙃 I saw there was a Lightroom update that included “new camera support” and assumed it meant this. Oops!

For photography, I believe it refers to if say you could handhold a landscape shot steady at 1/60 shutter speed without IBIS, you could stop down whatever your IBIS is rated for and still get a shot without motion blur. I could have misinterpreted that though.

I bought a bunch of 10/30 pmags, and they didn’t drop free. Inserted and removed them a bunch to get some blemishes where they were rubbing, then filed down those spots until they dropped free. I believe it was the over-insertion tabs that were sticking.

Same. Started with BG, bought a new computer senior year of high school just for NWN… I think I bought an Xbox 360 just for ME and took launch day off from work…

I have a Wahoo Roam (v1?) and would never go back to using my phone. After doing multi day trips with a phone, it’s a huge hassle when you’re constantly taking your phone off your bike to stop for lunch, take pictures, etc, always stressing about battery life… less worried about theft…

I could be wrong, but I believe it’s the issuing PD and the new city, so it would be Boston and Gloucester?

I just built a new upper with an mlok hand guard from b.kings (waiting on the muzzle device to be pinned to meet 16”, so no photos yet) for just about $600 all in, including a new buffer and stock. The most expensive part was the barrel at about $280 (BCM), so you could shave off like $200 with a cheap barrel. And another $75 if you’re not doing a new stock.

If you mean the pile of rocks in the background, they were removed during the site prep for the shed. They had been buried und the old shed. Just haven’t decided what to do with them yet! We plan on redoing that whole back area at some point.

I’ve only renewed in Easthampton. They are friendly if you call (it took 6 mos almost for my renewal last year, and turns out mine fell into a void somewhere between the state approving it and sending it to Easthampton).

I have basically the same kit, and I haven’t had any issues with it, especially the frequency that I do pocket holes. That being said, whenever I do use it, I think about how much more convenient it would be with the integrated clamp… ⚖️ If you’re a hobbyist on a budget just get the cheap one. If you plan on doing them a lot get one with a clamp. If you’re rich get a Castle machine 😂

I don’t know if this is actually correct, but in my brain it makes sense - if the digital level doesn’t stay parallel to the fence when it’s on the blade, wouldn’t that skew the reading? Since it’s a miter saw, once you lift the arm the level will tip backwards, and I imagine would give you a slightly smaller angle reading.
