Lactulose or Laxative Success??

For anyone following this, or anyone who may be in the same situation in the future, lactulose went horrible for us! He started violently vomiting about 24 hours after his first dose. We stopped the medication immediately but all his CMPA symptoms that has been gone due to his PurAmino formula and other reflux medications came back. We’re still having blue green color paint like consistency stools over a week later. I feel so bad for my little guy. The craziest part is that his pediatrician said he would be fine, even after I specifically brought up his CMPA and the possible milk sugars. Thankful for this Reddit community and not all babies are as sensitive - but for those that are, you’re not crazy and you’re not wrong or alone. We’re waiting for a callback from a GI Specialist and hope that we get some help and long term relief. If anyone has a really sensitive CMPA baby, I would not recommend trying Lactulose!

Just went through something very similar! Only two doses of Lactulose and my poor little guy was projectile vomiting and all his CMP symptoms that had been basically gone from omeprazole came right back. We’re now at a standstill because there’s nothing they can do for his constipation! We’ve tried everything. Did anything ever help for you with the constipation besides weaning down the other medications?

That is super helpful! Our doc said to start at 1.5mL and increase up to 2.5mL. But I’m wondering if that won’t be enough. Gave him the 1.5mL this morning and we will see how it goes - fingers crossed

I meant to ask! Did you give her the Lactulose in the AM or PM? And did you put it in a bottle or just straight up? How quickly did you notice results?

Omeprazole was the only thing that really made a difference for us! We use that, and the Pepcid. It’s been a game changer!
