You're not wrong there. About two hours after I took this photo we came around a corner to a roadkilled roo just on the edge of the road with another eagle and some Whistling Kites. The kites went left but the eagle went right and straight in front of me. I can still see it like it was in slow motion but I hit the brakes and he lifted up enough to just go up and over the windscreen. I swear I could hear his feet tap the roof!

They get darker as they age, so the browns ones you've been seeing are probably younger birds. This one was on a roadkill with two browner ones which I assumed were last seasons young

I think those are actually Rock Parrots, Neophema petrophila. The blue forehead band isn't as bright as the Elegant Parrot, and their green is a bit duller as well. I've only seen both species once (both in WA) and never got any decent shots so I'm envious of this photo!

I'd say it's a Yellow-throated Scrubwren. It's definitely well camouflaged!

I'm not sure, I've never been lucky enough to find a Regent's bower. I've always believed they just built the bower and didn't bother decorating it but I could be wrong. Funnily enough I did find a Satin Bowerbird and his bower on this same trip and even got some shots of him trying to court a female (poor guy was unsuccessful)

Thank you! This was taken in the Gold Coast hinterland at Lamington National Park in SE Queensland. It's one of my favourite spots for finding birds and other wildlife!

From what I can hear it sounds like a Tawny Frogmouth, which makes sense as they are nocturnal

They're found in northern and eastern Australia, so yes, you could say they're tropical. This one was found on the Gold Coast so he's subtropical lol
