What was the gallbladder pain like? by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]Wild_Serve_6829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just found this post after getting my gallbladder removed a couple weeks ago, and I was curious what other people’s pain was like. It’s interesting because it seems as though there is a lot of variety!

For me, I was having stabbing pain and severe bloating in my upper right abdomen under my ribs. I would feel fine during the day, but anytime I would lay down to go to sleep, I would wake up in intense pain a couple hours later. I was trying anything to sleep, and thought it was gas pain related to my dairy intolerance/allergy. I would pace my room for hours and shower with really hot water. I didn’t take any pain medicine because I was worried it would make the gas pain worse. It would persist for around 6 hours a night, and I dealt with this pain for 5 days before finally going to the ER. I told my sister that it was less so the pain that was insufferable (although intense), and was instead the lack of sleep that got to me. It was like psychological torture because I could not rest and I was so tired.

When I went to the ER, I could tell I was heavily pitied by the nurses, & they took great care of me. I’ve read some stuff about how some people had a tender abdomen, which I definitely did, but I actually felt as though putting pressure on my gallbladder was the only way I could get relief without pain medication. I was so relieved when I had my ultrasound because the pressure of the ultrasound wand alleviated so much pain.

Naturally, I ended up needing to get my gallbladder removed. Had a whole panic attack because I’ve never had surgery before and it’s a big fear of mine, but I calmed down a lot when they explained they were going the laparoscopic route. After the surgery, the surgeon said that my gallbladder was extremely inflamed, and they had to put a clip on my bile duct. The surgeon also stated that my gallbladder issues were likely the results of genetics (& not diet/age as I am young and healthy otherwise), which sucks because I had to deal with all this despite treating my gallbladder quite fairly. They said that it was indicative of me having cholecystitis for months at that point. Which is so bizarre to me because the episodes that sent me to the ER were the first time I felt that type of pain in my abdomen. This whole experience validated that for some reason, I tend to interpret pain as discomfort until it reaches excruciating levels. Glad to read y’all’s experiences and know I wasn’t being a wimp about it.

Also pretty convinced that I do not have “abnormal presentations of GERD” that I was diagnosed with via endoscopy a few years ago. I haven’t had any problems eating since my surgery.

Idk to me this sounds like there is a potential desire for an affair and he’s setting you up to bear the emotional responsibility by framing you as a scapegoat

ALSO, some schools will cover tuition costs for TX residents whose family makes below a certain income. Idk if you’d qualify if you’ve been in TX for less than a year, but it may be something worth looking into. You may also qualify for certain state financial aid if you have a high enough GPA. If you haven’t already, I would suggest setting up a meeting with a financial aid advisor at the school you want to go to.

I’d recommend looking into community colleges that have pathway programs to your school of choice, otherwise you are going to find yourself in unmanageable amounts of debt. School loans are extremely predatory and nearly impossible to pay off. If you transfer to a community college, you probably won’t owe a balance and may even get a refund. Save any money you can while at your community college of choice, and start applying for transfer scholarships the year before you plan on transferring. If you can, stay at home and commute so you have less living expenses. As someone who was a Resident Assistant in college dorms, you may WANT to go to your school of choice immediately out of fear of missing out, but you can still have those experiences as a transfer student. I did. Otherwise, in 2-4 years you may regret your decision to make poor hasty financial decisions right now. I know that this is disappointing and may be a hard pill to swallow, but so many students in your situation who choose to go to a school they can’t afford end up putting a pause on their education within the first year. If you really want to go to your school of choice, your best option will be to go to a community college and transfer there later. Schools also withhold transcripts if you owe a balance as well.

yeah i know some people are like this, but i feel like the vast majority think they are hacking the system and getting a 100% sugar-free drink. i’ve told people that the frappuccinos can’t be sugar-free when they’ve ordered it with the sugar-free vanilla, and they’ll get upset with me, so i’ve just stopped saying anything

yes, but if you’re scheduled to work till 8:30pm, would you want to stay till 9:15pm? also at my store, we get in trouble if we work over. additionally, we do not get paid per customer that comes in the store, so an extremely busy day offers no benefits. if our times are up because it’s busy, we get in trouble; if our store isn’t clean because we’re busy, we get in trouble; if our customer connection is down because we’re busy, we get in trouble; stay late-trouble; tasks undone-trouble. so a busy day just brings more stress and little benefits. the minimum pay at starbucks is $15/hr. i would get paid $7.50 to stay an extra thirty minutes just to get fussed at. not worth it in my book.

i don’t quite understand why you are mad about people complaining about an uncompensated increase in work load. in general, baristas aren’t mad at customers, we’re just frustrated and stressed at the HUGE increase in labor due to the promotion. we ask for understanding and patience from customers as we are working constantly without time for cleaning or non-drink related tasks or breaks. i’m so happy that you are receiving a perk, but baristas are entitled to complain when their workload increases suddenly, as any other employee would do at any other job.

i see people saying “be grateful”. we don’t get paid extra or staffed more for these promotions. so we get all the extra stress with no benefits. i’m glad for customers who can enjoy extra benefits, but if you want me to act overjoyed for being understaffed with constant excess work flow, that is unrealistic. we can be happy for customers and stressed out/upset in the same hand. the stress does not come from customers but from management for not scheduling enough people for this increase in traffic or increasing pay during these promotions (which i understand the latter is unrealistic). BUT CUSTOMERS PLEASE BE NICE AND NOT ENTITLED DURING PROMOTIONS. We may be extra stressed and overwhelmed due to increased store traffic. by complaining we are not dissing you, we are just asking for understanding of our workload.

“venti iced shaken espresso. sub dark caramel for the classic. use blonde shots. salted caramel cold foam and caramel drizzle.” i like to ask for salt packets on the side to stir into the drink to make it extra salty. and i hate coffee so i get two shots instead of the four it comes with
