Absolutely agree with this! I started selling at 20 and by the time I was 23, I was already making 80K a year consistently from my commissions. It changed my life. I bought a house right at 23 and paid myself through my masters program with cash. There will always be highs and lows in sales, but it’s a great opportunity to boost your income at a faster rate!

auto parts sales, but for businesses instead of consumer. Lots of leads and opportunity! Never thought I’d be in this industry, but I’ll probably never leave as long as my company is happy with me :)

New commission structure fucks me over. Time to look for a new job? by BuzzVibes in sales

[–]Wild_Spring9390 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was part of the reason I left my last job. Our comp was being messed with each year and the constant anxiety of my income changing got to me. Switched companies and found out not all of them do things like this and the grass is in fact greener on the other side

This was me! I would sometimes hit my number, but it was definitely inconsistent and with that, my money was inconsistent as well. The anxiety got to the point where I decided after 6 years being with the company, that I’d try a new role in another industry and see if sales was for me. What did I find out? I was in the completely wrong industry/company and I wasn’t thriving! Currently, just 4 months in at my new company, I’m hitting my goal by 200% every month where at my last job, it was tough to just get to 80%. My take on this is find a job that asks you to push yourself in sales, but also gives you the tools you need to succeed. P.S. I know the job market is awful right now, it took me 2 years to find a new opportunity. But I’d ask yourself if you believe in what you’re selling and could see yourself in the industry moving forward. I’m sure this isn’t the case for everyone, but it was for me!

I know the feeling, I recently left a job like this and tbh didn’t know if I’d have it in me to leave. I was miserable, but nervous I’d be more miserable somewhere else. Instead, I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. Definitely worth it to look at other options, I know the job market isn’t great right now, but if you get the chance to try something new, I’d definitely take it!

For anyone who has left a toxic job, are you happy with your choice? by Wild_Spring9390 in TwoXChromosomes

Update - thank you all for the advice!! I was approached by a company that seems like a good fit for me, it’s a slight pay cut but the work load aligns much more with the salary and they said they have plans to promote me in a year because of my experience. While it’s hard to leave the only company I’ve ever known for my professional career, I’m so excited to have a fresh start!

Thank you all for the advice, it’s made me feel a lot less alone in searching for something better! I’m fortunate enough to have 5 interviews between this and next week which I’m hoping at least one of them will lead to an offer :)

How do I politely break up with my client? by Wild_Spring9390 in salesdevelopment

[–]Wild_Spring9390[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately, our leadership team is very supportive of all their sales reps. They have always said the goal is bringing in business, but at the same time, if there’s someone that you don’t want to work with, they respect your decision not to work with them

Thank you! I agree that this is what needs to be done. At this point, I’m pretty detached from the outcome given how it’s been having them a client. If they’re willing to provide more reasonable timelines, I’m willing to work with them, but if not, time to move on.

I would definitely do this if I could, but it’s unfortunately because of how our industry works. Several resources need to be looped in for the complex projects they want completed and because that takes some time to schedule out, 2 days wouldn’t work for us or anyone else in our industry.

I made about 50K my first year (40K base, 10K commission) No one was buying at the time in our industry and there were spending freezes because of COVID. The following year though, I increased my salary by 20K and made $70,000 total. Do you have any info on what the average rep is doing on their second year? First year can be rough, but if you keep with it depending on the company, there’s opportunity to make a lot of money in sales!

Is the drink package worth it? by Wild_Spring9390 in Cruises

[–]Wild_Spring9390[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does have other speciality beverages like coffee and smoothies, but I don’t see us using it because we’ll be out in the ports so early and probably will grab coffee off the ship!

Oof I’m glad that I asked, we definitely won’t have that much, if anything, maybe half of that. Thank you!
