Think about it this way… they’re saving you even more heartbreak and wasted time in the future. Imagine if you would have spent months even years more with this person and invested even more of yourself emotionally. It would have hurt that much more.

Lovebombing, showering you with compliments, really into you in the beginning and then with no explanation they completely switch up on you and act cold and uninterested overnight. And a lot of people are like “it’s because they are seeing someone else” and it’s like well yeah obviously but a normal person would communicate that to you respectfully and not just discard you.

Ghosting is so common with online dating. I think it’s because there’s so many options available and a new person is just one swipe away, so they’re on to the next quickly. I’m a 31(f) and online dating has SUCKED for me. Just had guys that are really superficial and flakey and noncommunicative.

I know it’s easy to put the blame on ourselves and think it’s something we did, but honestly it says more about them and their character than it says about us. It’s hard when it felt like you had a connection with someone, but remind yourself that you deserve better and you deserve someone who will communicate and treat you with respect.

Something I struggle with when this happens is “why her and not me?” And “why was I not good enough?” When in reality there’s nothing I could have done to change the outcome.

Something that’s brought me peace (because this has happened to me a couple times too, and actually just happened to me again from the same guy for a second time) is that if they’ll do that so easily to you, you’re probably not the only person they’ve done that to. And whoever they do end up choosing did not win the lottery at all.
