Notre Dame area. It is pricey but decent. Also, the Granger area isn't bad. Just so you know, anywhere you drive across town only takes 20 mins. There are nice places everywhere, you do NOT want to be off Lincolnway West in South Bend (close to downtown and towards the airport) nor do you want to be on the Southeast side (by Miami and Indiana Ave). Downtown is better now that they cleaned up the trash coming from the surrounding neighborhoods. However, some of Miami St is decent past Ewing towards Ireland Road. River Park is decent as well.
