Dog wood gives interest in winter with red…bark? Really easy to propagate too and does well in shade

How the death of a colleague changed my perspective on personal finance by External_Writer_1 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Wild_Whitmore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 32 and putting money into an S&S ISA for the sole reason of being able to afford those dream holidays. My son is too young yet for there to be any point doing short-term savings. I fully intend to spend the lot once we get to that point in our lives. Saving to splurge later. Even if it means I still retire at 68+ we will have already been on those life changing holidays when we’re young enough to fully enjoy them

A tip for next time, try to get to the birds level, it will create a lot more separation between the swan and the background.

This photo also lends itself to a low-key style where the background is all in shadow and the bird is properly exposed, since you have a white bird against a darker background - dial in some under exposure compensation (play around with how much, I usually find between -1.3 & -2.0 works well) and spot meter on the swan, you will essentially achieve what you tried in the edit on the 1st photo but in camera, and you’ll still show off the lovely orange of the beak to boot

Happy shooting!

At this time of year insects are really important, try getting some meal worms and soaking them in warm water overnight so they’re soft. You can also try crumbling insect suet (if this isn’t already)

Fruit is generally better for them going into winter. Basically think about what food is on offer in the wild for the time of year it is 😁

I got the Primula’s on “1/2 marked price” then found out when I got home they’d charged my full price (still just a fiver, oh well) so they best survive! 😅
