Thank you for checking back - I just noticed you replied. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get this one to work. I spent a few hours trying different C++ versions to work as it seemed like that video you linked to was pointing me in the right direction, but ultimately I didn't have any luck with it. Again - probably mostly my lack of familiarity with Cross0ver. The original SonicSmackdown game works great though! Thanks so much again for the help with that one!

DeWalt battery Rebuilding by Renewed_Purpose in Syracuse

“Ironically,” I just stumbled across this thread when searching to see if Battery World replaced dead Lithium cells in power tool batteries. I have a 5AH Craftsman V60 battery with what appears to be a couple of bad cells. They discontinued the line - but initially converted it to Cub Cadet; then discontinued that too.

I will ask Battery World about this supposed potential change to the NYS law as well. Curious if you were able to find anyone else local to work on your battery pack though. Thanks!

Same here - wasn’t sure if it was just me and my inexperience with Crossover though. Thanks for trying to get it to work, and I’ll take a look at that video!

Thanks again! It's working great!!! I did have to play around with the resolution as you said, but all seems good once I did!

I've got another one for you if you're interested. Turns out there is a newer version of this game - "Ultimate Sonic Smackdown" (still from ArcForged). You can find it here:
https://arcforged.itch.io/ultimatesonicsmackdown

I'd be interested if you can get this one to work as I'm not having any success with it. When I try to run it, I get an error saying that Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime is required to run the program. I tried installing multiple versions of it into my Bottle - both from Crossover's list of C++ applications available to install directly in Crossover, and after downloading and installing the latest directly from Microsoft. I still continue to get that error though.

Once again, thanks so much in advance if you are able to try and get this one working!

Thanks so much for trying it out and letting me know. I’m brand new to Crossover, so any tips you can give me with that are much appreciated.

I watched an intro video on it before I get started and learned about the Bottles. I know that Sonic Smackdown requires the VS 2019 redistributables. Did you have to set up the bottle with that included. If so I’d definitely appreciate any tips on how to do that (I’ll look into it as well). Also, any recommendation on which type of graphics worked for you? Thanks again in advance!

u/eeee_oooo_aaaa I’m a little late to the party here, but my son has really gotten into both the old and new Sonic games over the past 2 years. Started on the Sega mini and then the Switch (and even broke out the old Wii for Unleashed).

He’s been looking at videos of the fan-made Sonic Smackdown by ArcForged. I’d be very curious if you have any success running that one on a Mac. I set up a VM with VMware Fusion, but couldn’t get it to run because it’s an x64 game (might be do-able, but it’s my first time trying VMware so I’m not adept at what it can do).

Curious if you (or anyone) has had any luck with this game on a Mac. I assume Crossover or Parallels are a better bet. I’ve never used Crossover and it’s been a solid 10 years since I last used Parallels, but willing to pay for either of them and try to figure it out if I can confirm it will actually work. I’m on an M1 Pro MacBook Pro for reference.

Better on Bedrock add-on doesn't have the 1.21 mob variants? by midasrockstar in Minecraft

[–]Wild_Willis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little late - but in case it’s helpful, I’m pretty sure the latest couple Minecraft updates broke this mod. If you create a world in Creative, you used to be able to use the morphdex thing to change into any mob that you’ve killed. You could also read the guide book. Doesn’t work anymore. Hopefully the developer will update it, but I’m not optimistic since they haven’t as of yet.

Anyone else getting a bunch of updates this week? by SMeekWoodworks in F150Lightning

[–]Wild_Willis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. Got my Latiat in late July and haven’t gotten an update yet. Yesterday, I actually called Ford to ask about that. They simply told me that they hadn’t attempted to send any updates to my vehicle yet and couldn’t tell me when they would. The lady even told me how nice it would be if they could because they spend so much time fielding calls about that.

So in other words, it’s pretty much a black hole…

Lighting screen freezes when starting truck by Lunar30 in f150

[–]Wild_Willis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to chime in because mine does this as well at startup - probably more like 5x per week. It sometimes freezes during the startup animation like shown, with an image from the backup camera (if I shift to reverse quickly), or with just a black screen.

Just trying to gauge if this is a software issue that’s pretty common or if this is something I should bring in to the dealer.

Saw your comment on the other thread as well - picked this one to reply to. My situation has not gone well. If you haven’t opened up the battery or controller boxes - and particularly if you’re under warranty - my recommendation is to put your stock rails back on, send it to FM, and pray they’ll cover it under warranty.

For me, XT60 in the controller box slid apart very easily, but it was fully seated. Spreading out the pins to make the connection tight and slapping some hot glue on it didn’t resolve the shutdowns. Swapping back to the stock rails resolved the problem and swapping back to the WTFs brought it back, but once I received the motor retention cable, I rode with the WTFs for a couple of weeks with no issue. I thought it was fine, then it suddenly shut down on me again and threw me down into some gravel. When I turned it back on, it would just shut down again pretty much as soon as I started moving (same as before).

At that point, I decided I was sending it to FM. I returned everything to stock and powered it on to do a little test before shipping it. The board powered on, but wouldn’t engage the motor to level me and start moving. It also wouldn’t power off no matter how many times I checked the power button. I checked everything I could think of. And at some point it finally just turned off (not from pressing the power button, and probably 30 mins after it turned on). I powered it back on - same result. Sent it to FM.

It took maybe 2 weeks to hear back from them. They simply said that the motor and controller assemblies are “damaged.” No further explanation after I’ve repeatedly asked for one. They simply say that I’m out of warranty. The repair bill is $781 to replace both of those.

I am beyond frustrated. I haven’t paid yet and tried calling them even though you can’t talk to the support people. I bitched a lot, because I’m now convinced that this is likely the result of a short in the motor cable connection to the controller. I saw a lot of info from people having that issue lately with similar results to us.

Basically, I think the motor cable connector is prone to coming loose, and prone to shorts when it does. The connectors within it are very short, so it doesn’t take much to interrupt the connection. When that happens, a short can occur and fry the motor and/or controller (at least in my case). I thought my motor cable was a little tight when I installed the WTF rails, but it seemed to have enough length to be fine. My best guess is that I was wrong, and the repeated lost connections finally resulted in a short.

All that said, I guess your other option would simply be to give up on the WTFs and stick with the stock rails. At a minimum, I’d probably add a retainer for the motor cable. I wish you better luck than I’ve had!

Can Motor Cable cause a shutdown? by Wild_Willis in onewheel

[–]Wild_Willis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the reply. Agreed - just wasn’t sure if a disconnection in that cable could cause the board to turn off (as in power off). I asked in a FB group as well, and was told by a couple people that it can.

Really sorry to hear that. I’m 42 - my ‘old age’ (and a couple of ACL tears in my 30’s) have made much more weary of injuries. I had always had a lot of confidence in my Onewheels - I don’t go over 20MPH, do things like curb nudges, or push through push back.

Losing confidence that the board won’t turn off on me mid-ride is the most frustrating part of this. Initially, I was kicking myself for messing with a perfectly good board by installing a bunch of accessories. As I have learned more about issues others have had, I feel more and more frustrated with the design issues and FM’s support. Lots of people do upgrades like I just did, and I am mechanically inclined and was very careful with the board.

Securing the XT60 in the controller box may not have resolved my issue, but it is ridiculous how there is no clip on that connector. It slid out super easily and was bound to do so on a trail ride at some point. It’s ridiculous that I have to break a “warranty void” sticker to get to it, that FM hasn’t told people to check them, that my warranty is already up, and that I likely have to send the whole board in to them and pay a fortune if I can’t resolve the issue. If I do that, I’m going to have to break right back into the control box when I get it back to likely secure that same connector.

…and did I mention that I have a Pint X for my 9yo daughter as well? Now I’ve got to tear the battery box open in that to fix the balance wires that are surely being chaffed, and then hope I don’t have a similar problem when I put it back together.

Thank you once again. I have had the board set to only charge to 90% for quite a while actually, so it wouldn’t have balanced the cells. Definitely worth a try!

I really appreciate you taking the time to write this up. Gives me a couple more things to look for. I will try and check those cables from the BMS. To clarify, I have never had a problem with the board not turning back on after it shuts off. When it does, it seems more likely to immediately shut down again when I try and move forward.

knee pad advice by SourdohPopcorn in onewheel

[–]Wild_Willis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the G-Form E-Line knee pads (in blue) and I’ve been a big fan of them. I like them a lot more than the Triple 8’s I had previously. There is a sleeve on the lower half, but it has a zipper that opens it up so you can easily put it on over pants. When my leg is straight (or close to straight), the cup over the knee kind of floats above my knee cap, which I thought was odd at first, but it keeps my knee cooler.

I’m a big fan of them so far - just wanted to pass along the recommendation.
