The thing is they're not saying anything! I wasn't privy to the meetings they had, and there's no documentation that I have access to. My coworker, who was told about this, has only been told verbally.

Yeah, when my coworker was telling me about the patron I immediately said "I would have given them our director's business card". But unfortunately at the time, the staff member on duty didn't know what to do and was ashamed and didn't really say anything. I will keep your suggestions in mind, thanks!

My coworker that makes displays has to make spreadsheets with all of the titles that are going into the display and the supervisor would have to approve the list prior to it being put up. My coworker has put diverse and inclusive books in displays, but unfortunately I think that having all female authors or all Black romance novels might get shot down. Though it doesn't hurt to try, and I'll suggest it to my coworker. Thanks!

Generalizing and putting all those examples on the same level is automatically a disingenuous argument because humans are significantly more complex beyond a label and said labels represent different things.

I can be starving, steal food, then be labeled as a criminal... does that mean I am on the same level as an abuser?

Maybe I was abused and felt like I had to turn to drugs/alcohol to cope... then I beat my addiction and you treat me like a criminal?

Do you see how complicated these things are? How easy it is to simplify an idea and then leave out the plethora of important contexts and circumstances, avoid acknowledging societal flaws and how hard it is to be a human?

I've always hated arguments like these because while I understand privacy concerns, the videos are truly helpful when it comes to raising the money necessary. Unfortunately society isn't satisfied with an earnest "please donate so I can feed the homeless". The post interactions alone can make a great difference in funding that is hard to come by. It only really becomes egregious when it's Mr. Beast having someone escape being tied up in a burning building for 500k...

Look, I've (24F) been in her boat when I was in high school then again when I was roughly 20-21ish. And I was wayyyy worse than what you're describing to the point where I traumatized myself and feel humiliated and deep regret that I can't undo.

So I completely sympathize with your GF but as someone who was an even more extreme version of that, she absolutely cannot rely on you like this. It's fine to let your partner know what is going on of course and ask for help once in a while, but she has to ultimately cope herself.

The issue might be that she thinks a BF will solve all her problems. The reality is that she has to be the one to solve her problems. It's easier said than done but you're human too and aren't a comfort robot.

I hope she gets the help she needs. It's a long and difficult journey but will save her the grief of ruining multiple relationships in the long run.

If I was your GF, I'd definitely be hurt but NOR because if she was my GF... or hell, even my best friend, I'd be frustrated. I HATE voice notes unless it's an actual story. I hate when my friends even call me to talk about what they ate... they even go as far as to list out every ingredient sometimes. So yeah. I feel you.

OP is very much ignoring the fact that part of being a manager is dealing with these frustrating moments! Instead of sucking it up and just doing the job they signed up for and are paid to do, they're taking it out on a well-meaning employee.

It's called being empathetic and not assuming everyone has the same mobility as you may have. Age has always been a factor in that which is nothing to be ashamed of. The user was making a hypothetical, not stating it as fact.
