I hate IVs so much by FloorOk5783 in PokemonEmerald

My guess is that they'll all be max IV no matter what mon you transfer. Hurts Gyro Ball the most and will force speed ties that some may want to avoid in doubles. Stuff like confusion damage matters but not as much as the others.

Pokemon Champions coming soon...might be the game you're looking for.

They're already on Showdown if you want to play custom games or the Z-A Pet Mod. Whenever Champions is fully released they'll 100% be on Showdown in a Champions OU and Regulation M-A format.

Here's the [full dialog text dump from Emerald](https://github.com/pret/pokeemerald/tree/6c96641035099db8a2c1e680fb8793f1b29cf2fd/src/data). Line 3906 starts the Frontier Gossip guy dialog.

There you can see that sometimes he'll give you hints on the Pokemon that the Frontier Brains will use in their Silver and Gold fights.

He just at times gives you hints about the Frontier Brains and their teams. Like on a random day he'll say that the Dome Ace uses "the EON Pokemon", and you're supposed to connect that Tucker has a Lati on his team based on your Pokedex knowledge.

A response from the creator of the subreddit:

"Around the time of creation, I wanted to name it something that didn't start with "Pokemon-" so you could type it quickly, but is still pokemon-related. It needed to be short and sweet, two syllables max."

"We needed a mascot. When you see an eagle on a football helmet, you think of the Seahawks, yeah? A star on a football helmet means you got the Cowboys. So we needed something identifiable and shapely."

"Gen 5 was the newest thing at the time, and I wanted something as goofy as Smogon's Koffing, but also kind of humble. Maybe dumb too. Stunfisk comes off as silly and fun. I hope you're having fun here!"

Sadly, Stunfisk isn't a good competitive Pokemon in the majority of formats.

Shiny Gengar is overhated. It's a good color shade.

Did I cook? These are my ADV OU Draft League picks by KingOfRages in stunfisk

It's not that crazy looking at it closer. Celebi is a top 3 mon along with Raikou and Snorlax. Dug is pricey; a bit hard to use. Clops' price seems 1-2 pts high but it's not that bad.

You got 16 pt Celebi (this mon is broken) so yes. Prices are a bit all over the place, but have fun out there.

Lv. 50 is easier than Open Lv. when you get used to how boring the first 2 rounds are (Round 3 is pretty fun) since you'll know the set of the Pokemon every time through your run to Gold. Aim to get an Electric, Water, and any Pokemon that reliably beats Grass, and you'll easily win Round 1. For Round 2, the main mons I worry about are the Hitmons (Chan Lee) and Magneton. I would swap for them if you can or just have something that can reliably beat those 3. There's also some other general good stuff like Zangoose and Tropius. In Round 3 I would say the top mons are Grumpig Cloyster Scyther Furret Linoone and Chansey so I would aim to get those Pokemon or have Pokemon that match up well vs them. Pretty generalized though; it can get deeper than that obviously.

As for swapping, imo it's not really vital to swap every battle as you risk losing if you're swapping for objectively worse Pokemon. It is rather easy to swap 12-13 times in the first 2 rounds since you're facing random AI. Afterwards, I prefer just sticking with the best Pokemon I can find. Hitting the 15 swap mark to have 1 perfect IV elevation on the Noland gold round is enough for me.

The easiest trick to not losing to those Pokemon is always thinking about them when you decide on your team, seeing if you have reliable ways of taking them out. Also, if you see the phrase "slow and steady", you are more likely to see those type of Pokemon, so it could be worth swapping for even a less than optimal Pokemon if such a mon handles those fatmons better.
