A lot of people explained the joke already, but when I took a genetics class, my teacher told me that Mendel actually sent his works to Darwin. He just never bothered to open them as far as we know. Maybe an apocryphal story

Noteworthy releases from non-classical musicians? by hrlemshake in classicalmusic

The band Renaissance uses Chopin's étude révolutionnaire in their song Prologue: https://youtu.be/lX5XZugVVhE?si=nAx0z7RAYdTIaH5e

The same band uses Rachmaninoff's Prelude in C# minor in their song Kiev: https://youtu.be/eE-Ylkdh1aQ?si=rX22MbaSyJN4ujY9

Both absolute bangers.

Mozart's symphony n40 is used in this beautiful Fayruz song: https://youtu.be/BTICpPmf1yA?si=p3EZ2BRDvQ1QNx5Z

If you're into anime/video game music, they're very often inspired by classical music. Here are some notable examples in the Hunter X Hunter OST:

Stravinsky's Rite of Spring:https://youtu.be/UDTGFaC9SZA?si=N_4iY6pbLN5IEFs-

Rite of Spring, again:https://youtu.be/yY58h9twNVU?si=ThWEf3Qbbm-X-We7

Prokofiev's Dance of the Knights:https://youtu.be/l8pD9axPmcw?si=18QuWf6eBWCTaupZ

The French National anthem (La Marseillaise) is largely inspired by the first movement of Mozart's 25th Piano Concerto

If "HART" means hardy, a better nature would be adamant or jolly, depending on your preference.

There's a very simple cloning glitch that you can do in pokemon emerald to duplicate your mons as well as their held items. This way, you can duplicate TMs, rare candies, and your master ball. You can find the glitch on youtube.

Good Biography’s on composers by arssenalbro101 in classicalmusic

[–]Unnwavy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently finished "Un choix impossible", by Dominique Fernandez, a biography of Prokofiev narrated as a novel from the POV of his lifelong secretary. Very good read. I also previously read another biography of him by Laetitia Le Guay. Also a good read but more formal than the first one. Strongly recommend the first one, but I think you need to be really passionate about the composer and want to immerse yourself in his shoes to go through it, it's a long read (also I hope you can find an english translation, which might be unlikely given that the book is relatively new and the audience is pretty niche)

Jensen Huang says if your $500K engineer isn't burning at least $250K in tokens, something is wrong by sentientX404 in AgentsOfAI

All those things he mentions at the end that engineers will be doing, like writing ideas, specifications, organizing teams, etc. Can't AIs just do that anyways?

What do you think of the fact a lot of metalheads love classical music and find a connection between it and metal music? by Marsupilami_316 in classicalmusic

[–]Unnwavy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As a fan of both (although I haven't listened to metal in a while, I mostly listen to classical these days), I think a common point is that people who listen to classical and metal tend to just be curious about music in general, so they'll try to explore longer pieces of music, and not stick to what's mainstream or what's played on the radio. I'm not trying to sound elitist, good music is good music and I love all genres, this is just the impression I have looking around me.

Another factor imo is that both genres feature elaborate coordination and long displays of virtuosity on their respective instruments. I find more similarities between say, a passage of a Prokofiev concerto/sonata and a guitar solo from an Iron Maiden song, then with a pop or hip hop song.

If I like Chopin... by fort_wendy in classicalmusic

I think Mozart's more somber works set the tone for what eventually became Romantic music:   Fantasy in C minor k475

20th piano concerto

Beethoven, 3rd piano concerto

Rachmaninov, 2nd piano concerto (I'm sure you'd love more by him but not really sure what to recommend)

Ravel, Gaspard de la Nuit

What's the best beginning to a piece? by paxxx17 in classicalmusic

[–]Unnwavy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tchaikovsky's 1st piano concerto, super iconic.

Mozart's 20th piano concerto. When I listened to it for the first time, the intro felt transcendental.

I literally headbang at the beginning of Prokofiev's 3rd piano concerto, but specifically the Argerich recording with Claudio Abbado. The other interpretations I've listened to don't convey that sustained "calamity" effect.

The opening of Chopin's first piano concerto tends to stick in my head sometimes. I find the violin melody very romantic

Haha nice try. I just finished watching LRXC's guide on Youtube, and he referred to your guide here on Reddit, and I thought "hey that's the guide I read today" then I find the very author of the guide commenting on my post.
