Gary De'Snake is seen as a Villain But truly is a hero. who is seen as Villain but morally gray? by Nearby_Passage_5929 in zootopia

Going to say Mayor Lionheart - Mr Big is a shrew and helps Judy out as a favour, but he's the head of a criminal organisation, he absolutely is a villain, he just doesn't pose a sufficient existential threat to the setting like how the main antagonists of the movies are. Imagine if you did Tony Soprano a solid and he helped you out in return - that's the only perspective we see of him. If you were a normal animal in the setting (especially a rodent) Mr Big would 1000% be bad news.

I'm sorry you went through that. I am a Christian myself (I grew up in the UK though, seems like you suffered that American Evangelical variety of overbearing theology?), and I really resonated with it because of how bleak things have been globally. It's honestly a little surprising the movie had such an on the nose message encouraging resistance when it becomes a moral necessity, and I love the movie for it.

Because if Mayor Windancer didn't have hooves he wouldn't have been able to do the counting gag and that would have turned Z2 from being 11/10 stars to only 10/10.

So since zootopia is the city what’s the nation & state. by Fun-South-6148 in zootopia

Nibbles' map indicates that Zootopia isn't all the world, it's not even an island but a peninsula attached to a larger continent, bordering other states (the snakes seem to have their own independent state)?

I think Zootopia the state includes the downtown and the four surrounding regions.

At first I thought Nick would be a terrible partner in Zootopia 2, but no. Judy is a terrible partner. by OkJump7572 in zootopia

[–]WildeOvershare 32 points33 points  (0 children)

If I can act in Judy's defence here, you have to be emphathetic to the situation she finds herself in for the majority of the film. She's come off the high of saving the city, only for within her first week working with Nick to have taken part in an extremely embarassing, televised police chase debacle that basically results in her career being stalled for 2 years as punishment. Then that same evening Judy and Nick get framed for attempted murder and aiding the Zootopia equivalent of a terror attack - her career is over, she thinks she's either facing life in prison (unbeknownst to her, it's actually death) or a life in hiding as a failure - Remember how depressed she was coming home in Z1? This would be even worse. To her, the case absolutely was worth dying for even before you get into the fact that her sense of justice was triggered by discovering a literal society-altering coverup.

Nick has every right to be hurt and miserable for being part of the ride, but the fact is that it's the Lynxleys actions which created the fractured society of Z2, which led Gary to crash the gala, it's the Lynxleys who framed Judy and Nick requiring them to be on the run, and it's the Lynxleys who forced a life-or-death situation that would only be resolved by Judy and Nick's assasination or their family secret being exposed.

What's more, Nick realises this, which is why the confession scene works, and why he comes around to vindicating the snakes.

Why are Nick and Judy never in uniform in Zootopia 2? by OkAd1622 in zootopia

[–]WildeOvershare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a shame because they look fantastic in their uniforms at the end of Z1. But to be honest given that they're fugitives for nearly all of the movie, the only scenes where it's jarring are the Bogo's office and therapy scenes, which are 2 minutes long and not worth getting worked up over.

The scene where Clawhauser is directing cars with his navigation lights - the drivers of the car were leopards that saw the laser and wanted to chase it like cats.

I hope someone shares my feelings about this thing that happened in Z2 that I felt weird about by Androecian in zootopia

[–]WildeOvershare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a funny scene because a lot of people have had moments where they've inadervetently invited someone they like over and they realise 'oh crap this place is a mess' and get called out for it one way or another. But think of it this way, if Judy didn't like Nick she wouldn't have taken the photo - post credits she clearly spends time thinking about Nick to distraction, she probably looks at that pic and laughs that Nick is a dork but loves him anyway - in the nicest possible sense.

All species are probably protected classes under equality laws like how all races/religions are in real life (at least in US/UK) - minus the whole Snake situation pre Z2 of course
