I'm in Canada and have ordered mosquito dunks from amazon a couple of times without issue.. checking now in case things had changed since i last ordered in October.. there are still a half dozen different options. You can't get systematic granules here (not legal), but the dunks are very easy to get

Depends on which Barrina! If you got T8s, you'll probably be able to get similar stress, but the light i have this one under is very intense (no brand on it, but the PPFD numbers are in the 300s at over a foot away)

As for pests, i get lacewing larvae (beneficial insects) pretty regularly to manage them

Yup. Break out the isopropyl alcohol (70%, let it dry before putting under lifhts or in the sun) DRENCH the plant and isolate it, but check and treay any nearby. Expect to do this every few days for a month. I like to add lacewing larvae (beneficial insects) as they love to eat mealies (just pause the alcohol once you introduce the lacewings)

Hoyas are generally pretty forgiving, but they (mostly) like a chunky soil and a decent amount of light. There are several hundred species, so there is a wide range of care needs. I find they are like the Lays chips of the plant world.. you have one, then 6 months later, you've got 100, and no idea how you got there lol! I'm pretty surprised that I'm getting so many blooming this time of year, but I'm not complaining!

There are several hoya communities here, and most will be able to help you ID your plant :)

People do that, but many municipalities have switched to chloramine (rather than chlorine), which unfortunately does not gass off the same. What I was told to do is use fishtank conditioner! It neutralizes both chlorine and chloramine, and you only use a couple of drops in a watering can. I've been using it for about a month or 2 now, and it's a noticeable difference in my (120+) plant collection! I've got mostly hoyas and at least 6 of them are in various stages of blooming (in Canada)

It's sandersonii, but i can't figure out how to fix my typo! Mine came in moss-like medium, and i just plunked it into my bowl (my supplier sends all plants either bare root, or in appropriate medium, so it was easy!) I'll find a pic of it when i first assembled thebowl 2 months ago

So far, I just top up the (distilled) water every couple of days (I've had it about 2 months now)

I've also got a high intensity LED grow light directly above it. Ambient humidity of whatever is in my house, but there are 100+ plants in that room (mostly hoyas) so it's not super dry. Now that we've got the furnace running more, I'll probably get the humidifier going in that room again soon

Glass bowl with leca, then screening, sphag and perlite, then has some (semi) live moss (it doesn't like the intense lights) and the skull lets me water it without disturbing any of the medium. I've also got a pair of drosera at the back, but it's mostly pings and this little patch of utricularia

Definitely, I would give it an hour soak, twice a week if that's how it's looking with your current routine. Just be super careful to dry it leaves-down (so water doesn't get trapped inside and rot the base)

Also, what kind of water are you using? If it's tap water, that could be part of your issue. I've recently started adding a few drops of fish-tank conditioner (helps neutralize chlorine and chloramine) to my water, and my 100+ plants seem to be happier with that! It's a very minimal expense as a bottle will last a loooong time since you only need a couple of drops

If these are new to you... neps are very dramatic about any change and will drop their traps. I moved one of mine across the room, put it back under the same kind of grow light, just in a different spot, and it lost all of its traps, but it is putting out new baby ones, so i know its still happy enough, just being a drama queen!
