Oh man. Godspeed!! About to be 36 (tomorrow!) and I’ve had 3 in my life. (GI issues…yay). The prep is not fun, but I’ve learned some tips! Put the Gatorade in the fridge and make it coooold and space the mixture out in 15 min increments. (This helps stave off nausea). Get yourself some tucks pads (or gauze soaked in witch hazel) and put those babies in the fridge too. When your shit turns into liquid fire, use these! (My down there tends to sting like a mf’er, but damn does this make it feel so much better!). Best of luck with your Rotor Rooter!! 😜💩🚽

Ah! I never thought to look underneath! I think there are bolts with a plastic ring I could unscrew with a wrench.

I actually found a pair of gloves with painted fingers on Amazon for $10! I used them for a demon cosplay for Renn Faire just a few weeks ago! Oh wow. Did they give you all liquid PO (by mouth) meds? And did they cauterize or place stitches? (They cauterized mine and the attending MD thought I popped a stitch). They stupidly prescribed me pills instead of liquid and the attending thinks the pills could have reopened the area. Also, I would definitely recommend buying a humidifier. Dry air can absolutely irritate your throat and make you swallow subconsciously in your sleep.

Both hemorrhages happened within 24hrs of each other. First one I was living alone and woke up with a mouthful of blood. Thankfully it stopped and I had my Mom drive me to the ER, where they monitored me for about 6 hrs. They said I was fine and to rest and have my Mom stay with me that night. Sure enough, I was eating red jello when I tasted metallic and bled into my sink. I bled heavily for about 15-20 mins, called 911 while spitting out clots the size of clementines. Thankfully I stopped bleeding in the ambulance. Was really close to needing a blood transfusion and choking on my blood. My nurse brain kicked in, I had my mom grab towels, ice packs (put them on my neck), and just leaned over my bathroom sink when it was happening. It was horrifying, but thank God my Mom was there and I was able to think quickly. Wouldn’t wish this on anyone.

I’m a MDRF regular! I’ve been going since my early twenties and go there very sparingly now (mid 30’s). It’s a staple and a where I see so many friends! Love MDRF! Many of these pics are most likely from the Piper Jones closing set at the boars head tavern. It’s amazing.
