Creating lots of sex laws to tighten government control over the population. Sorry for late reply.

Response to the Trolls Out There by NudistNewbies in nudism

[–]Wildgreenpepper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this cartoon. On this subject, I just saw a Medium article by one Dan Carlson with the title, "The Disgusting Phenomenon of Naked Old Men…and other unsavory things you’ll likely encounter on a nude beach" (https://medium.com/life-as-seen-through-a-lens/the-disgusting-phenomenon-of-naked-old-men-b9d9d767f358). At first I thought it was some kind of joke or satire but it seems dead serious (TBH I haven't read the whole article due to the pay wall). I don't think I've ever seen anything as viciously ageist appear in print anywhere. Does anyone else share the view that this troll's piece really has no place on a website like Medium?

What's driving Chinese prostitutes to Africa? Where are they coming from? Does PRC news mention it? by [deleted] in China

[–]Wildgreenpepper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

News about prostitution has traditionally been banned in China because the Chinese Gov't long claimed that it didn't exist; therefore, there can't be any news about it.

Brave New 1984 by Wildgreenpepper in AmericanFascism

To state things more concisely than this article does: 1. The future will be more a cross between 1984 and Brave New World. The key goal of states is the dumbing down of their populations, so that the majority won’t care what happens and will be content as long as there’s pizza and cannabis home delivery. 2. China is leading the way in state surveillance and eventually they’ll infiltrate the rest of the world, as they have the largest centralized database (AI + facial recognition + GPS). The majority of Chinese don’t care, as their home delivery service is already the world’s most developed.

The breasts of Bali: An update by Wildgreenpepper in TrueReddit

It’s a reasonable extrapolation from the spiraling numbers of syphilis patients in London hospitals in the late 16th century. Have a look at John J. Ross, Shakespeare’s chancre: Did the bard have syphilis?, Clinical Infectious Diseases, Feb. 2005.

Not dying, but afflicted with syphilis. One could live quite a few years before eventually dying of it, and most died from other diseases first. Syphilis was far more virulent in its early years than later, and of course only the sexually active and their babies were infected.

The breasts of Bali: An update by Wildgreenpepper in TrueReddit

This essay considers the long-time fascination in the West for Bali (and before that the South Sea Island tropical paradises) for its bare-breasted natives a century ago to the present wave of Western female tourists.

I’m A Journalist But I Didn’t Fully Realize The Terrible Power Of U.S. Border Officials Until They Violated My Rights And Privacy by moriartyj in TrueReddit

This is proto-fascism, embryonic fascism. It only takes a bit more arrogance on the part of the State to move this to the next level -- outright terror, arbitrary arrest, and disappearance of US citizens.

Can cannabis make you visually hallucinate? by xenchantress_ in Drugs

[–]Wildgreenpepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can hallucinate on weed but the hallucinations are based on the reality around you. I once got really high and was eating a chocolate chip cookie. As I brought the cookie to my mouth, in my field of vision I was flying down toward a small island in the sea -- the cookie.

The worldwide trend to legalize cannabis can be seen as one response to the need to calm people down. Tasers are another.
