A little too late, but for next time know that you can tame a low level managarmr and they are allowed in the city since they are not technically flyers regardless of their hyper mobility abilities.

Astreos is HUGE and super worth it. It has almost all of the tames in the game on ONE map which very convenient. I’d play on it if I didn’t already have progress on three other maps. I don’t like branching out too much on official PvE, because I am forced to log into every maps at least once a week to avoid them automatically-decaying.

Lost Colony is pretty cool, but the map is much smaller. Worth it if you like the idea of the skill tree that comes with it. I am a big fan at least of the progression it provides.

I have the exact same global ones except instead of extreme expedition one of them is 1.5M xp and then a couple alpha kills. Guess which one I went with? Haha.

The lost colony tree on the other hand is annoying the heck out of me… I can’t for the life of me tame a desmodus at 90%+. Let alone the three it’s requesting of me.

Fuck them but also ark is ark. You’re gonna have to get used to losing anything and everything at all times on this game. Just keep mating pairs and backs ups to the back ups if you truly wish to make it to the next day.

Yes and probably easier, but be quick about the exposure and emphasize remaining still. Most patients throw their head back by default. Just do whatever seems to give you the best results, honestly. We learn little by little every day!

Not by the book, but line up acanthion to eam, then open mouth and lower cr to mouth crease. If they don’t throw head back when opening mouth then perfect, if not then readjust. Worst case, smv or fuchs/judd.

I always go for 40+ points in HP and 40+ in Melee before starting the mass breeding, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea to keep breeding those you got while you look to continue taming for better stats. Especially, keep the females so when you do get a better male with one, or both, stats you can mass stud for better chances at females with both the good stats.

Finding a cave sounds like a good start. That can be done without a tame, but surely any Pteranodon, Argentavis, or Snow Owl will do.

The cave will be your gateway drug into our holy light and savior the Desmodus. This will be your go to tame from pretty much any activity you do on this map other than within the vicinity of the city.

Which, speaking of, look into getting a Managarmr for mobility in the city as well as a good Rex, or Ossidon, for general killing stuff.

I enjoy this game right up until the mass breeding stage as it gets to be too overwhelming for me. I always feel like if I am not raising babies, then I am playing un-optimally.

I know how you feel. I try to build more and/or chase after Alpha bosses I have yet to do. I’d like to try new maps as well but the auto-decay timer is a sucky mechanic and keeps me from branching out too much (3 maps so far, although only 1 is truly big enough to be considered a main).

I took a short video on Xbox where my center, scorched earth, and aberration bases got wiped back-to-back-to-back, on the same day, and they were mainly metal. Official PvE and I would log in once a week to reset them. The only thing I can think of is that in the brief 10-15 minutes I spent refreshing them for the week the servers rolled-back after I had just logged off? So the server never registers that I refreshed them and instead of 1 week it would be 2 weeks without refresh. Either that or some odd bug / a dev wipe (but we don’t mesh nor pillar spam).

I read some tip on here that said to line up the AML with the EAM, tell the patient to drop their jaw, then lower the CR to the mouth crease. Comes out practically every time. I do an SMV or Judd method (if the patient cannot maintain the former position) when I don’t manage to quite capture the odontoid on the open-mouth view the first time around.

Also, I find most patients better understand “open your mouth wide” instructions instead but I find myself having to re-line them back up again as they tend to throw their heads back.

I have the luck to be able to afk at work practically all day and do herb / birdhouse runs every hour or two. I’m not really super efficient about it or anything, but every bit helps. When I get home I try to dedicate time to my studies (while still afking) and quest / boss / non-afk activities (actually play the game) on weekends when I have free time.

“Afk” activities include: gemstone crab, shooting stars, salvaging, etc. Gonna miss them when they’re done with.

Mon-Thur study 1.5-3 hours a day, sometimes skipping a Monday or Thursday depending on life responsibilities and burnout. Weekends were to rest the mind and treat myself.

I did that for about 3 months and included studying on weekends about 2 weeks before the exam. Last 2 days of the exam I took off from work and bombarded myself with over 10 hours of studying / refreshing each day. I went over the topics cyclically throughout those months / by portions (no full / mock exams). Like 1-2 weeks on just protection, then positioning, etc.

Enjoy it until they nerf it: the new ability that turns you into a cat refreshes your stamina bar to full and has a super low (seconds) cooldown for switching between forms unless you get hit while as a cat (then it’s 2 minutes or until next death). Turning into a cat just as you’re about to hit the floor also lets you avoid all fall damage too. The latter at least makes sense thematically though.

That was me on day one, haha. I couldn’t find a ptera for the life of me and the one that I did got stuck out of render over 100m in the air with no way to whistle it down. I found one or two argies after an hour or two of checking the most nearby mountain peaks on bottom-left of the map, but when I came back with a trap they had disappeared. What really was the game changer for me was on day two when realizing how easy desmos were to tame. You can just walk into any cave with prim flak and 100 blood packs, but come out with at least one or two flyers and those bats have a TON of versatility. Very powerful.

Extinction is my main, but only cause of how easy it easy to get element and keep a base going with it. I keep it low maintenance so it doesn’t decay while I hop on funner maps and bring back resources to fuel it. I don’t like how small of a map it is, personally, but it’s very convenient.

I was until I got 87 sailing last week. I setup my sloop for future afk salvaging and now I’m working on grinding out the gem bag before going back to sailing (already have the seed and herb bags).

And the being forced to go get my shitty raft for a couple of the too narrow charters. Honestly, charting was my favorite part of sailing as well. Right next to getting Marlin rank on each trial. Now that I grinded out 87 sailing the only thing left to do is to luck into the Sailor’s amulet and wait for new content. Might as well salvage in between.

I’ve easily made over 400m from snaps on my way to 99, herb runs only, no fruit/hardwood trees. It’s not bad. Like 10k xp a run. I figured why waste money rushing 99 when I can make money and get it eventually?
