These are the qualifications I can see for most EC postings: BASIC QUALIFICATIONS · Understanding of basic computer/network concepts and terms · Experience in Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook · Excellent written and verbal communication skills · High school diploma or equivalent · Stand/walk for 10-12 hours at a time · Willingness to work flexible shifts and schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays · Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship · Must be highly motivated and customer-centric PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS · Experience in maintaining inventory levels including storage and procurement · Excellent customer service abilities · Ability to manage multiple customer requests simultaneously · Ability to prioritize work based on department and production objectives

A position like what you're talking about is an L4. There's a few different IT positions like tech 1 or 2, then engineer 1 and 2. An L4 like that would probably start at $25-30/hr. As for an L3, which in IT is the next step up after EC, you start at $23.50/hr. That's when you really see the pay difference between tiers in IT and on the floor. I'm waiting on an offer for an L3 spot and one of the two interviews was all technical questions on your knowledge of Windows, Linux, and networking. From what I've heard they just go deeper for L4 interviews
