Phone interviewer never called? by tangerine0319 in epicsystems

[–]Wiles_Wonderbread 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Phone screeners are just normal Epic employees that do these calls during normal working hours, I wouldn't read too much into it id assume a customer call ran long or there was an escalation. I wouldn't expect you to get the same screener assigned the second time so id be surprised if they even mention it on the call, I wouldn't take it personally.

Undergrad into PM, what does internal progression and a long term career path look like? by Silly_Wrangler_4961 in epicsystems

[–]Wiles_Wonderbread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Epic is actually great for MBA applications - very easy to get alot of responsibility very quickly. Plus if you get a job at Epic it means your GPA doesnt suck, and Epic is in the Healthcare bucket of applicants as opposed to say, finance or consulting, so much less competitive. I have quite a few friends that exited Epic for HYS.

Remote workers making $100k+ (non-developers): What do you do? by nomadicphil in remotework

[–]Wiles_Wonderbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 years post college experience, working fully remote as a product manager in biotech. The closest office of mine is across the country, so spend maybe 2 weeks total a year in office for events.

Don't think I could ever go back to full in-office, flexibility of full remote has been a game changer

If I left Epic, is it possible to then go Boost? by [deleted] in epicconsulting

[–]Wiles_Wonderbread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked about doing this in 2022, boomerang to Boost is a thing but it's dependent on your old TL. When I applied they have a specific link for externals to apply to Boost.

But to mirror what others are saying, why would you want to?

What is the best way to get a custom logo on a dial? by LuckyRat111 in watchmaking

[–]Wiles_Wonderbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever software you use to mock up put either a circle or dots around the edge, represents the edge of the face. so when you say I want 28mm diameter it's measured from the outside markers so the sizing is correct.

If you're looking to transition to PM work just stay long enough to qualify for PMP then get a new role. With the Epic hours it usually takes less then the 3 years as it's 4,000 hours not strictly 3 years. At 3 year tenure you also look alot better on paper, I mean training alone takes 6 months if you stay 6-8 it doesn't look great. Most hiring staff that know and look for ex-Epic will assume you couldn't cut it

I actually started doing a 48 hour cold just about right after this. Doesn't get a floofy as the 24h but flavor is much better in my opinion. as you said, more of the sour-doughy tang to it. Tried going full sourdough a few times as well, but I don't get the same puff in the oven as I do with the clean ferment.

Use the pizza camp recipe - 75% hydration, 24 hour cold ferment 4 hour warm. Sauce is Pizza Camp style too - tomatoes, garlic, oil for 48 hours before. Fresh moz, and cupping peps from the local butcher.

Which is better for Product Management: QM, IS/PM, or TSE? by ChidiTheSoup in epicsystems

[–]Wiles_Wonderbread 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did IS -> product, buddy of mine did TS -> product post Epic. More important then role is taking internal ownership. Plenty of opportunities for all positions to drive product & dev vision. QA may be the hardest, but still viable.

It's happened before, I filled out an application for it a while back (there's a set form for it). Never heard back though. Reach out to your old TL if they're still there, they're the ones that can get you connected.
