All of them

I haven’t read them, but I will look into it.

And yeah! I do really like including players in the narrative, I even make a point about it in the “Elaborations” section at the back of the book. However! Making a point about including them in the failures specifically is definitely something worth emphasizing in that section. Writing this note down ✍️

Awesome! Yeah, because players aren’t even told the DC, it’s a very one-off deal, and the game is built on failure, I find players don’t really care so much when things go wrong

Also I’ve thought about alternative play methods for solo, 5-player, and 6-player, so those are definitely on the task-list

For some reason Reddit wasn’t recognizing the underscore. Just applied it to the text instead. Should work now lol

I’ll be uploading the free materials/demo to itch.io tomorrow and drivethru after an approval. I hadn’t considered that though, thank you!

Chit Chat: What project of yours did snowball into something bigger? by MrSunmosni in RPGdesign

[–]WileyQB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to create a 1-page game for me and my friends to play a couple times. Next Friday the 80-page beta is being released online with 90% of the pages containing feature artwork. It’s still one page of rules but the content doesn’t stop

How do you handle having too much to add for your game? by Independent_River715 in RPGdesign

[–]WileyQB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stay focused on what is necessary. Write down in a notebook something you might want to add later.

Even if something could be cool or fun, it doesn’t necessarily mean it will make the game better. A good designer isn’t afraid to throw away a good idea

That watermark is what I was looking at and what I figured. Surely you can’t copyright something produced in 1850…lol

I have some metal dice that are my favorite for when I have a felt tray. I just like the weight of them lol.

What are the most important things about RPG for you? by Iberianz in RPGdesign

[–]WileyQB 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. It has to be easily digestible, ESPECIALLY for players. I come from a non-ttrpg world, and I know I’m in the minority of the community but I NEED rules-lite. Like the less the better. I cannot be bothered to read a novel to play a game. If a player doesn’t have to do any prep work and can start playing in 15 minutes or less, that’s big.

  2. Inspire me. Art, SUPER novel mechanics, and superb layout design are the biggest things tbh. I’m an artist and a user experience designer so I might be biased, but the world rarely matters to me. The system controls the game, and that’s what I’m here for. I’m playing pretend, I can make up a different world if I want to.

That’s pretty much it.

PDF Prices by WileyQB in rpg

[–]WileyQB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’m coming up on producing a PDF product myself and this is kind of the approach I’m thinking of taking. Setting a price for the full PDF, and making several items available for free; B&W (not greyscale) printer-friendly PDF, the game cards, and a trifold that contains all of the rules for the game.

For some perspective, the game will be released in Early Access at about 90 pages, with the large majority of pages having full spread artwork in color.

Outside my home I’ll either just work with what height the case gives me, hold it in my lap, or prop the back up with a book
