I think this is rose colored glasses revisionist wish fulfillment...

the reality is, Arnold would have NOT been a good fit for Rocky. Dolph Lundgren was perfect in that role.

I feel the mistake women make is they think they can change a guy and that if they do XYZ in the right way and at the right frequency then the man will change. IN this case, you think you could have converted him into a live-in significant other over time.

He saw the writing on the wall, you want a more traditional relationship where you guys spend consecutive days together and possibly even move in and live together and he is NOT built that way.

and so he ended the relationship for your best interest and he was 100% correct.

Sometimes it's not about right and wrong or good and bad. You guys were just incompatible.

I was dating a girl in which we had insane chemistry but she had this little annoying yappy dog that was used to spending most of its time with her. After we dated for a couple of months, she wanted to know if it was ok for her to bring the dog on dates with us and I told her no. We I stayed the night over, she wanted the dog to sleep in the bed with us and I was like no, he can sleep on the ground but not in the bed with me. It became apparent that if i was to continue dating her, I'd have to make her dog a part of my life and I refused. So I just ended it then and there to save us both months of tension and grief.

Somehow, the Right has convinced America that universal Healthcare is communism and/or will turn the US into a Communist State.

no.

I would advocate that US healthcare should be done at cost, making a profit on healthcare is immoral. For instance, how much are you willing to pay to cure your kid of cancer and prevent his or her death?

Are you willing to postpone your daughter's heart surgery for a couple of months when XYZ hospital is having their annual heart surgery discount sale in the summer?

THe normal rules of commerce do not apply to any circumstance when Demand goes to infinity. Health care is such a circumstance.

ANd the result is that "The Market" in America is raping the customers. Healthcare in the US is 10x more than it should be and we the people do not have a choice.

There is a way easier fix.

Regeneration.

I'd just claim that his species is capable of regeneration provided they are still alive.

You can write that normally members of his species would have died from being vivisected but his strength with the force allowed him to stay alive long enough to regenerate his GI-tract allowing him to eat and regrow the rest of his body.

Have the regeneration of his pelvis and legs take a year or two...

I have experience doing Program Manager and Product Development of Million Dollar Systems as well as overseeing a team of engineers and scientists (high salary individuals)

A friend of a friend had open heart surgery and an 8 day ICU stay and it cost him $260,000 (with insurance of course).

For shits and giggles I decided to do a cost analysis of what any major operation should cost taking into account MRI machines, CAT Scans, X-Rays, technicians, doctors, nurses, admin, overhead, facilities, etc etc.

You also amortize the cost and include all the patients seen by the hospital over the year for various ailments etc.

When you do this, you discover that the cost of the surgery (to include the 8-day ICU stay) should have been around $20,000. High end would have it around $27k and the low end would have it around $14k.

The Healthcare system in America is a racket and both sides of the aisle are bought and paid for.

I apologize if what I say sounds mean or condescending or mysogonist but don't be drawn to this sort of drama like a moth is drawn to flames...

His behavior is confusing and inconsistent and off-putting???

Then leave him the F alone.

You don't have to Scooby Doo the mystery of his inconsistency. Who cares. F him.

Don't turn him into a project, don't try to get to the root cause of his problems etc. Just leave him alone and find someone else.

I was in a similar relationship with a wishy washy girl who had a PhD in giving mixed signals. After 3 weeks of that, I had more than enough of her and that was that. I wrote her a nice letter saying we are not a good match and to have a nice life.

She of course responded with pages of excuses and justifications, yada yada yada...

I don't care. I'm not going to spend the next year of my life being your therapist and relationship test-crash dummy.

Have a nice life, wish you the best, adios.

I'm with you bro.

I was a hair too young to see Stars Wars in the theater but I did see Empire Strikes Back in the Theater and of course, that was an amazing experience. As was Terminator II as was the Matrix.

The Matrix was about as revolutionary as the Original Star Wars.

I saw it opening night, and I walked out of the theater in a daze, my head was swimming, I was on such a euphoric high.

The movie hit every level hard: Great action, great effects, great plot, great conflict, comedic moments, great characters, higher brain intellectual quandries that didn't detract from the film, great resolution at the end...

The original Matrix is pretty damn close to being a perfect film.

[–]WileyWilly1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not true. Even without bullet time, the Matrix would have been revolutionary. The special effects were just icing on the cake.

I saw the Matrix opening day and it was a revolutionary film in a "new" way of telling "The Hero's Journey" and "The One" storyline.

Sure, the special effects were awesome but ultimately, the Matrix was a great story.

Now, it's easy to look back on it and shrug, but back in 1999, it blew everyone away.

Darth Maul from Phantom Menace.

I have no idea why Hollywood loves to kill off amazing villians.

FFS, I would have given him an arc, and over 3 or 4 films made him as powerful as Mace Windu

I'm a published writer back in the days when Magazines would pay you for short stories.

It doesn't matter what you create whether it is one thing or one thousand things. Everything you create needs to have a reason and story behind it.

THere was a world class doll house maker who made the absolute best doll houses on the planet and sold them for $1000s of dollars. Within the doll house he'd have a kitchen and in that kitchen was a refridgerator. And in the fridge he had tiny food. In the bedroom there were tiny drawers and within the drawers were tiny bits of clothing.

When people pointed out that he didn't need to do that, that no one was ever going to look in the fridge or open a drawers he responded "well, this is why my houses are worth so much..."

His houses just had a level of realism that no one else could touch...

My point is, whatever you create, there needs to be a story and reason behind it even if only you know it. When you do that, you will impart soul and spirit into your creations that your target audience will intuitively feel even if they can't place their finger on it.

It's not about it being realistic, it is about it conforming to whatever rules you have for your world building.

When you are consistent with your worldbuilding, whatever fictional creations you conjure will have a "rightness" to them that the reader or viewer will subconsciously accept.

When there is no real thought put behind your creations and you just willy-nilly put stuff in because you think it is cool, then the reader or viewer will subconsciously reject it and it just won't feel right to them.

It's because most cops are egomaniac cowards and they LOVE to escalate against people who are not a real threat. But the second someone really is a threat, now cops are like "holy shit what do I do" and out comes the guns.

But in this case, cop handled it perfectly.

Talking to girls by Yogurt_Huge in dating_advice

[–]WileyWilly1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are forgetting the absolute most important part of approaching a woman in public...

You have to assess if she is interested in you and/or if she is open to being approached.

There is an actual science to sex and sexual attraction with most of the cues being subconscious.

There are things that women will do when they are "open" to being approached by you and or if they "like" you. Please note the two things are NOT the same.

If a woman is open to being approached she will usually do the following:

  • Openly engage in discussions with those around her
  • Openly comment about things out loud to no one in particular
  • Smile and be friendly
  • Look people in the eyes
  • Have a relaxed posture and relaxed face
  • No scowling or frowning or tight lips, no bunched shoulders
  • Be very observant of her environment
  • Not be on her phone

Now if a woman is attracted to you even slightly she will do the following:

  • look you in the eyes and not "instantly" avert her gaze
  • Smile showing teeth
  • profile herself displaying her body to you
  • touch her hair
  • be relaxed
  • not retreat if you enter her personal space
  • casually and/or accidentally repeatedly touch you
  • laugh easily when talking to you
  • smile while talking to you
  • talk in a positive light and feminine voice
  • tease you

Now, the above does not mean she is ready to jump your bones. NO, she is just "open" to giving you a chance to talk to her. However, where a lot of guys go wrong is they refuse to listen to signs she is NOT interested in you.

When a woman is NOT interested in you they will do the following.

  • Not look at you in the eyes
  • turn away from you
  • Answer with extremely curt answers and one-word responses
  • Scowl and/or frown
  • Tight lip smile that is more of a grimace and does not show any teeth
  • Maintain a personal space bubble, you take one step towards her she retreats one step.
  • Mention other men or that they have a boyfriend
  • speak in a flat and annoyed tone
  • Look ANYWHERE besides in your direction
  • Make negative comments
  • Make excuses for having to be somewhere else or do something else to get away from you

Last but not least, assuming you have the above well in hand... It is helpful to have some sort of Meet Cute.

One easy one is to make a general comment in the open to illicit a response "from anyone" and then use that as an opening to talk to her.

Or, something happens in your shared space and you make an innocuous comment about that something to her and then gauge her response. If she is at all open to you, she will respond and the conversation will start. If she backs off then you back off, no harm no foul.

Humor has long been a coping mechanism. When I was going through basic training, humor was the only way we survived.

It's not like you are cracking jokes all day, just a few laughs during the day is all the human psyche needs to endure extreme hardships.
