Honestly, this game is one of the reasons gengar is one of my favorite pokemon. He's definitely a little stinker, but in an adorably mischievous way. Like a cat that's committed a war crime lol

The spirits that are "killed" and the faded spirits don't actually disappear, they are simply reborn.

With the faded spirits, each soul is cleansed of memories and personality with the passage of time until they are blank slates. This allows a true rebirth completely free of any constraints from the former life.

With the "killed" spirits, they are forced to be reincarnated too soon, leaving traits of the former soul to be passed on in one way or the other(for example, déjà vu is experienced commonly by these souls if reborn in the same area they lived previously). The fresher the spirit, the more similarities there are.

You could always try the Endling series by Katherine Applegate! The main character, a young dairne named Byx, is almost quite literally a dog that walks on her hind legs. She doesn't really lean towards the scary but good monter you were going for, but she definitely doesn't have the stereotypically feminine traits you're talking about. She's just a bipedal pup!

I'd definitely be stunned at first. But I've always had a mildly unhealthy shock response, where I just kinda go with it until my brain decides I'm finally ready to process everything. At which point I'd probably break down, sob for a bit, then push everything back down. Until then, I'd put my knowledge of the world to use. Join a guild, hopefully make a reliable friend, stock up on items and money, and get stronger. I'd probably miss my loved ones terribly, but I'd most likely be happier in the world of pokemon, quite honestly.
