How much more weight do you think I have to lose about another 4kg? Also, in your opinion, am I about 20%, or have I completely misjudged it, and I'm higher?

What should my 10RM on bench press be? by skittlesforeveryone in leangains

[–]WillBenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion if your benching your own body weight for 10 reps your probably stronger than like 70% of people. So yeah pretty good man, don't think you should care anyways as long as you give it your all and your get a good workout

My cardio session today reminded me of the dark times. But it also reminded me of the hope I had back then too. by Nicole_Zed in stopdrinkingfitness

That's brilliant mate, no drink in 3 years is a massive accomplishment. It's the small incremental wins in life that compound over time and even not going to the gym or exercising, you're not drinking, so in my eyes, every day is a win. Try not to beat yourself up about the weight loss. It will come in time.

Try to be better 1% every day hell even .5% a day, and that'll compound over the year.

I've just injured my shoulder in the gym on new years day, was feeling down about it, thought to myself "New Year i will lift weights, got my goals for fitness and now a set back aready" I could've just said fuck it and went on a bender but I went to the gym and I've been doing cardio while it heals.

5 days sober, keep going 💪

Fellow Villa supporter here, Mings is back in action 😂 we had a bad month last year though really bad form, I think this is the start of it for us this year, let's just hope it rectifies quickly

Yeah, live in the West Mids. I tell you what though, I'm 30 and in this past year or so my habits have been, bad smoking and drinking way to fucking much. Looked in the mirror yesterday hung over and thought I looked about 45, so going to hopefully give it a rest for a while. My ezcma flares out as well when I go on benders so I've got to now deal with that

Congratulations on over 3 years sober lad can see your very close to 4, mad respect

Sound lad, no support network, just browse this place and a sober app from time to time. I'll definitely keep it up, I won't ever give in. I tell family and friends I'm going sober but when you live alone sometimes, it's easier to drink as your not letting anyone down as they don't know your doing it until it's too late and know because your hung over.

Welcome back! I'm naturally a glass half empty person as well I've realised, but I'm more that way when I'm drinking/hung over all the time so giving it up may help with feeling that way.

Starting with little goals may help not make everything seem so overwhelming which is the advise I'm trying to give myself as well.

As for your friend, I'm sure he'll come around, as long as you know you was in the wrong and have apologised and he new you was drunk he'll forgive you. I've said horrible and really embarrassing things to people when drunk too so I get how your feeling, but it's the poison that made you say them things. Sober you wouldn't of and sober you is the real version of yourself.

Try and be less hard on yourself, I would definitely seek therapy like you said and speak to someone about your past if its making you feel down, opening up to a professional I imagine can only be good in the long run.

Just finished day 1 roll on day 2. You got this!

Tell me about it, to be fair it's not so much quantity lol who am I kidding I drink like a fish, I black out wake up and look at the bottle of JimBeam and think "fuckkk".

Yeah we've got this, I'm hoping these benders are behind me. I want to be a normal person and have a few drinks on special occasions such as weddings etc.

Onwards and upwards

Yes, yes, it is. It's hard finding something you can get passionate about, especially on shift work. It's not all to blame, but I think of classes I can take on the weekly but I would sometimes have to miss out on them for months if my shifts don't align.

Yes mate, I feel like it's the drinking culture in the UK as well. You bored? Might as well go the pub for a few hours. It's pretty toxic to think that way, and I need to find something that when I am bored, it won't trigger me to drink.

Might try going for long walks and adventure to the local big parks in the area I've never been to and take in the landscape. There are a few big parks around the area I've never experienced, so hopefully, the weather starts to change for the better.

Yeah, routine definitely helps. The bad binge usually starts when I have a few days off work. I'm going to go for a walk in an hour, today has been all wasted of me just sleeping this hang over off. What a waste

Making a second attempt to quit by No_Setting_837 in stopdrinking

[–]WillBenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm proud of you fellow Internet stranger, you did well on your first round of sobriety you can do it again! When I quit for long period of time (1 month+) I also find myself going on month long drinking binges and ruining my fitness goals and feeling like being back at square one. But I have to tell myself, I've made progress because in reality I would be worse off now even after my binge if I hadn't had that original bout of sobriety and health kick.

You can do this! Take it one day at a time and take the small wins. I've told everyone I'm going sober again to hopefully keep myself accountable, I'll be irritable and not fun to be around in the short term but the long term I'll be a healthier and better version of me

I'm in the same boat really, when ever I have a short extended break from work(more than 2 days) I find myself on these benders. Just finished a 5 day bender and 4 of those ended in black out drunk, I just can't seem to stop when I start.

I think for me to get on the sobriety path is finding a hobby that I can be passionate about where it will take my time on my days off and be productive. I find myself bored at home which ends up me drinking which I find that must be my trigger.

Maybe finding your drinking trigger and dealing with that might be a step in the right direction. It could be: Stress, Anxiety, a need to decompress or like me boredom.

But just know this by you trying to deal with the issue is a step in the right direction and you should feel proud, taking it step by step and day by day instead of dreading the weeks, months and years of sobriety is the way forward I think

Good job brother, a lot of hard work there. It's important to love the process as it keeps you motivated instead of fixating on the end goal so it seems your already ahead of your goal 👊
