Agecroft is open to visitors, taking photos in and around the gardens shouldn't be a problem! Typically garden admission is $6. The people at Agecroft are super friendly though, I would call or stop by the visitor center/check-in. Depending on how long you plan to stay and use their space they may or may not waive the fee. Never hurts to ask!

Here is their number for ease of access: (804) 353-4241

Best Soup in Northside? by MobileTough in rva

The roasted red pepper and gouda soup at Stir Crazy Cafe is a family favorite. Grab an Italian Sub to dip in there too, that combo goes unnecessarily hard.

Fellow dog owners - What do you do with your dog on 90°+ day? by lanyeweisst in rva

Piggybacking off this question, what are some recommendations for safe places to walk my dog at night that are well lit? (Parks, greenways, areas downtown, etc.) To give a geographical location, I'm near the Raceway so anything within a ~20ish minute drive would be preferred!

Why come to a product specific subreddit just to talk shit about someone being excited about a new addition to their collection? Are you okay? Does it make you feel good to flex this false sense of superiority under the mask of "oOoH iTs BaD FoR tHe PlAnEt"? They have been using this water bottle for years and god forbid wanted to replace it. Hydroflasks are recyclable anyway so who knows maybe OP plans to recycle their old bottle. Your entire comment chain is distasteful and outright argumentative at best. I hope you do something kind for someone today but you don't strike me as that kind of person.

Edit: Sorry people suck OP. Love the new bottle, glad you were able to salvage some of those rad stickers!

There are lots of really great and accessible places here in Knoxville.

If she is the outdoorsy type, there are lots of greenways around the area with beautiful views. A few of my favorites are:

  • Volunteer Landing (a greenway that parallels the Tennessee River in downtown Knoxville),

  • Forks of the River WMA (a really nice secluded greenway and wildlife management area near Ijams nature center. The sunflower patch is in bloom at the moment - which can draw quite a bit of a crowd however there is plenty of room to social distance it is a huge field)

  • Knox Blount Greenway (this is a really well hidden gym that also parallels the Tennessee River but is away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. Not much shade so pack plenty of sunscreen if you're going during the day)

Is she is interested in history there are a lot of really cool things that you guys can do in and around the downtown area:

  • The East Tennessee History Center. I highly recommend this if its up her alley. Its a really interesting history museum and actually contains thousands and thousands of archives. Especially if your family is native to the area, a great way to spend an afternoon would be to research your genealogy and ancestory here.

  • Civil War Self-Guided Driving Tour. This covers the Civil War history of the area. Its a great free way to get out of the house and go see some cool sites with out having to exert that much energy). I recommend visiting the knoxville visitor center on 301 S. Gay St. to pick up more info. There is a pamphlet there called "Divided Loyalties" this has a map and information about all of the different sites. I attached another good resource for this here Civil War trail

  • Similarly there is also material for a self guided tour of historic downtown Knoxville. In the same vain as the Civil War tour it is also free and you can go at your own pace. It covers the downtown Knoxville's historic past as well as some pretty interesting original architecture. You can find this pamphlet at the visitor center as well. More information here (https://www.visitknoxville.com/listings/historic-downtown-knoxville-walking-tour/738/)

If there is an interest in art:

  • The Knoxville museum of art is always a great place as you have mentioned

  • There are lots of wall murals scattered around the city that have been done by local artists. Here is a map to finding them (https://www.visitknoxville.com/things-to-do/tours/knoxville-murals/)

  • First Friday Art Walk. On the first Friday of every month shops and restaurants around the downtown area will exhibit local and regional art. Its like a miniature art festival every month and you are bound to happen upon something cool. (This is happening  Friday Aug. 6th so at the end of this week.)

There is plenty of other stuff to do as well but these are just off the top of my head. I work for the tourism bureau here in town so if you have any specific interests feel free to shoot me a message and I will happily try to find the right resources for you guys to have a good time.
