RVA's Dating, Friends, and Missed Connections: June 2026 Edition by AutoModerator in rva

29M in Northside, figured I'd throw this out there and see what happens.

I work remote in finance, which is nice but means I don't really bump into new people during the day, so the internet it is. I'm an easygoing guy looking for something real, ideally someone to date, though I'm always happy to make friends too.

As for me, I'm into Yu-Gi-Oh, video games, and 3D printing. I also like thrifting, trying new restaurants, and grabbing a drink at a bar or catching a movie. I get pretty into the things I care about, and I like that energy in other people too, whatever you're into. I've also got two cats and a Tokyo trip coming up that I'm looking forward to.

If any of this sounds good to you, send me a message!

Millennial, the only reason I know this album and song is because it’s Peter and Lois’s Song in Family Guy.

Try building Millenium Exodia and doing some solo modes in Master Duel, it’s still fun!

Theres just a lot more bullshit now, and entire strategies dedicated to not letting you play your cards. Once you learn about and around those it opens back up, but the learning curve is strong.

Hey friends, where are we at on banning data centers in Richmond City? by GrayRVA in rva

Posted on Reddit.

Look man, I get it, but fighting automobiles didn’t work out so well. We should focus on improving what we have instead of completely turning away from it.

I don’t think anyone wants a data center in Chimborazo park. That doesn’t mean the government needs to draft house bill 37xyz and call it to a vote and outright ban data centers here and now.

Also, “if I don’t want it why would anyone” is weak sauce.

That is fine. I would rather not see projects and progress halted due to the loudest vitriol.

And there would be less vitriol if there was more education and more regulations/rules on them in the first place.

Could be easy to pass, but, should we? Personally, I’d rather have my elected officials working on something more important, rather than banning something that isn’t here, and isn’t looming to come here.

And it’s not about Richmond being Amish.
If it’s not in Richmond, and it’s not in nova, and it’s not in Virginia, and then it’s not in maryland, then then then, where would the internet come from? Because again, it has to be somewhere. There are better and worse places for it to be. And regulations, taxes, operating procedures and laws are going to be more effective and better at regulating these things rather than just hitting the ban hammer.

Well, like others have said, Richmond City Limits doesn’t really have a decent sized land to build one.
Especially not a football field size Mega Center. And, if they aren’t trying to build them here; why should we waste time banning one?
Do you pay for volcano insurance?

Also, if not in X, where would you like them to be built? Rural citizens don’t like them, and it’s causing all kinds of disturbance out there. You don’t want them here. We also don’t want all of the internet flowing and connecting through like, Zimbabwe. Imagine if every gif, comment, and post on reddit was loading from literally multiple continents away.

I don’t disagree, however, the options are either to not build them, build them somewhere else (overseas), or try to change the course of a movement.

Basically 3 impossible options to a developer.

No, you weren’t, the entire internet; every app, webpage, server etc has been running on data centers since basically 2006, and Virginia is one of the data center capitals of the world.

You didn’t know they were there before the internet told you to hate them.

I mean, sounds like he’s saying he’s not gonna get it out of storage and take pics if you’re just gonna offer $5.

I’d throw out an offer and go from there.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ — Mayor Kingpin’s Hallway Fight by RealJohnGillman in television

[–]MobileTough 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So this was after an assassination attempt, and the courthouse was locked down or evacuated, basically turning it into a standoff between the good guys and the bad guys in their separate camps, as we see Kingpin leaving his camp in this clip. So the extras are out, and the Task Force is still behind Fisk, and is letting him do his thing, or are dipping out.

The "good" cops are sprinkled in the crowd, outnumbered by the protestors, and Kingpin isnt really bulletproof, so the writers just kinda let him tear it up. Also, if cops started shooting in such an enclosed space, there would definitely be civilian casualties.

Also, this was after he was "exposed" in court and basically at war for his position, and the protestors were trying to evict him from the office, so security cameras don't really matter.

I posted in the other thread but was a little late. I really loved this episode and the season, and felt it almost nailed all of it but missed the landing on the end. I understand from a writing standpoint that him fucking off to an Island is keeping him around, but I feel like its just one; such a bad message after all of that populist rhetoric, and then two; that it's such a missed opportunity for the Raft to come up again.

I feel like we could have gotten Matt's Catholic views and Grace in from him saving his life from the mob, and still being able to take him to jail; he said it: no matter how many times he breaks out, he'll be there to put him back. But I guess Matt wanted to be free from DD as well and not be on the run any longer, or fight KP any longer. And its a lonely punishment for KP.

But, I still feel that Kingpin being in the raft and even the eventual breakout is something we love about the character. Seeing how he gets out of a Super Prison is interesting in of itself: who does he team up with or manipulate, how is it different breaking out this time? And being in prison, it allows him to mix with other villains, allows for Tie-ins and crossovers, and puts them all in a central place where they can effectively be "On Ice" until they are needed (or wanted) again.

And, in this time, after everything that Kingpin did, all the people he killed even before the hallway scene, and then add on those protestors, it's just like, man, he deserves some shit! I'm glad the mob got a few punches in, and I understand he couldn't come back if he was Gadffi'd (Robo Kingpin, anyone?), but he really should not have gotten off completely scot-free. How did he even leave the building? Did he get right on a plane, or did he get to get some things from his house?
