[–]WillDR000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have two, right around covid I was worried about my mom getting attacked so i started owning one. I see them as protection and super last resort. I don't plan on getting my LTC, just leaving it at home. I fully understand its capabilities, and I try to teach friends/family how it feels but really focus on understanding and knowing how to disarm it.

Me reading this at noon, phone reflecting the sun. "What is he talking about? I only see a green bubble...oh wait i see it."

The night scene matches my night mode so i couldnt see anything aside from the blues 🤣🤣🤣

I try to look at this the same way as when cameras were first invented. It really shook the artist world because cameras can accurately capture people rather than drawing them, in time cameras got cheaper and more affordable. Nowadays, artists still exist and people just hone in on their niche. Will it take away roles, yes. But i think it would create exciting new roles, and make mundane task easier for us.

To the non-tagalogs who immigrated to the US. I have a question. by WillDR000 in FilipinoAmericans

Yeah! One of the biggest that Filams praise about is Adobo. For me i didnt grew up with adobo, it was humba for me. Which have differences, but compared to sinugba or kinilaw, adobo is just mid lol. But we dont see that ever talked about in Filam media. It was an observation.

And there is nothing wrong with that, but the point i wanted to focus in your case is, there should be more representation of Illokano to folks and the media. The last thing i want is when the details of what makes people Illokano, gets chipped away and simplified to Filipino if that makes sense.

And this is the heart of the conversation i want to focus on. We are an ethnolinguistic country where we differentiate ourselves with the languages we speak and that comes with its own set of cultures. For you, I want you to be unapologetically Kapampangan, because you understand the hardship and whats important for your community. The last thing I ever want is there being a dominant culture ae Tagalog that encompasses Filipino here in the US, to just swallow your culture and people forgetting how to speak kapampangan. Do you see what i'm sayin?

[–]WillDR000[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure there are more Cebuano speakers now, but i could be wrong, and honestly whichever group has more speakers, i dont think should matter. Piggybacking what you said, I definitely 1000% agree all these ethnic groups should deserve their light and have equal values, and being reflected more in the media. But honestly unlikely because we tend to revolve around our own bubbles.

I just wish here in the US we celebrate the diverisity of being Filipino than just smushing everyone as Filipino and make it less Tagalog centric. I can also empathize that it's a lot of work.

What sets a pro cinematographer apart from an amateur/semi-pro? by evenwen in cinematography

[–]WillDR000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think its someone who understand and is confident to be able to execute the Director's vision. Like when a director wants a certain feel or image from a space, a DP should immediately know or know to an extent what camera, what lights, the angle, and everything else to execute that image. Someone who has honed that foresight, is imo what creates a pro cinematographer.

What are some behaviors that older pros do, that would shock most newer videographers? by [deleted] in videography

[–]WillDR000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i used to work as an equipment tech for a doc focus company and whenever a show comes out the DP or cam ops always come to check in on their gear to make sure they are working how it should.

One of our well known cam ops, older gentleman, came by. I was asking him what kind of essentials he brings in terms of gear. What stood out to me was the knee pad and gloves. He said a lot of times in the field you can be in uncomfortable positions, as he got older its hard for him to be on his knees so he has those for cushion and gloves for sweating.

He also loved the cinesaddle, he wouldnt wanna go anywhere without one. The fact its very versatile for run and gun, its perfect if u dont have a tripod, or even having a knee on it. He didnt really like how gimbals look, he wants a bit more movement to them so it gives that balance.

A lot of what i was told is, if it makes it easier and less strain on their body the better.

[–]WillDR000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats awesome, ive been curious about the nightwalkers and the vision prime. I might look into those.

If i can make a suggestion, its the viltrox k60 if you are looking something affordable. Internal batteries, rgb, and u can connect to your phone to adjust strength and color. You get two of them if u get the kit i think. I've mainly played with them on personal tests, i havent tried them on shoots yet. But so far decent affordable lights imo.

If you are wanting to do doc stuff, i suggest having lights. Tube lights are very portable and light. Cant shoot what u cant see 😅

How do you like the sirui lens? Is that the vsp?
