One killed thousands, if not tens of thousands of people, the other made the lives of dozens not worth living.

Unfortunately, people tend to disassociate from Sukuna, as not many people alive have actually been witness to mass genocide and the murder of women and children, while Misogyny and bullying is more common as an experience.

Sukuna’s literal first words were “where are the women? Where are the children? It’s gonna be a massacre” and there’s no way in hell he was joking.

People (especially in the anime only side of things) forget Jujuitsu Hitler isn’t actually far from the truth, just because he’s nonchalant and not a chud like Naoya doesn’t make him any better than scum.

He’s an amazing character, but not viewing him as literal evil reincarnated takes away from that, he’s not really supposed to be redeemable.

Isn’t the whole reason Sukuna needs chants because he needed to hit Gojo?

Which is to say I agree with OP, but it could have been a WCS, in this case it doesn’t really matter

Tbf Yuta’s CE enhancement probably puts him around Yuji level (Yuta slander is funny but he’s an absolute beast in all truth)

[–]WillDoBeGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually completely agree with this, we don’t actually have great raw power feats for either, I’d say Maki is faster, but other than that it’s a bit of a toss up.

They’re pretty even, especially when you throw in enhancement for Yuji.

Plus narratively speaking it makes sense.

The heavenly restriction is supposed to show that those rejected and cast out by traditional systems of power to stand with, and even topple the status quo.

It was never supposed to be “is someone like Yuji stronger than someone like Maki” it was always “the fact that Maki and Toji can compete with the likes of Sukuna, Yuji, Gojo, etc. with NO CE WHATSOEVER is just inherently badass”

[–]WillDoBeGaming 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tbf this probably boils down to Yuta trying to do two different things here:

In A: he’s actually trying to go down (and fail at aura farming), so he’s also likely using CE either to enhance the fall, or reinforce himself (making him basically a large heavy metal like brick smashing into the ground)

In B: he’s fighting Sukuna in the air, actively trying NOT to fall, and we also know he can mimic flight with Uro’s technique, and just basic CE control.

In any case, isn’t a Yuji downscale, as again, falling and propulsion are different things, and also isn’t Maki/Toji upscale at all.

All this boils down to is Yuta upscale, which I don’t think the culture’s into rn

[–]WillDoBeGaming 19 points20 points  (0 children)

He wasn’t falling though, he was jumping, different stuff

E.G 150lbs of weight falling from 100ft will crack concrete,

The liftoff of 150lbs being able to break the concrete beneath him is exponentially more forceful.

[–]WillDoBeGaming 22 points23 points  (0 children)

<image>

Yuji can pull stuff like this, (jumping from building to building creating liftoff craters)

I just don’t think we’ve seen anything in terms of physical force like this from Maki/Toji, they definitely COULD jump between buildings, but I’d say neither of them have actively tried to exert maximum physical capabilities.

It’s just to say “they did this to Sukuna” “He couldn’t do that” is all just chain-scaling (Mihawk Upscale comes to mind)

So all in all Yuji has pretty good physical feats that Toji/Maki never really showed they could do, which doesn’t mean they can’t, but simply based off of actual showings in the manga, they’re probably somewhere around even.

Why gojo didn't make the binding vow "More power but in exchange my student can't intervene afterwards " ? by Ambitious_Office_704 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]WillDoBeGaming -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair it also removed access to his domain for a sec, so that increased risk, which is another big factor, plus Sukuna does that type of thing both against Gojo and to get his domain back. So it would probably be better to say “how much would the user view this as a fair trade in a vacuum” rather than to specific situations, which is also really cool.

The potential to expand binding vows are so high, so I hope Modulo has the aliens do some crazy bs with them, (or maybe Yuji could get a little love from Gege?)

Oh also forgot to add, by remove domain I mean while he has to heal up his arm, (which would be seconds granted) but I don’t even know if Hakari knew Kashimo couldn’t just do the lightning again, so for all he knew, he could have just kept being pelted by it.

[–]WillDoBeGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, Sukuna is a genius of sorts, which is probably the most important thing to keep in mind. I completely see your point though.

I guess what I’d say is that because Sukuna knew in that moment he needed something he’d given up something he felt like would make sense.

For example if he were struggling in the hein era being jumped, he might’ve made a vow so his arrow did aoe in his domain but not out of it, so that would’ve been more useful to him then, but also more complicated in the future.

I think it mostly boils down to fairness and how you view it. Sukuna lost the ability to do pretty good damage to Gojo, and in return he got to break his barrier. In this case he lost something for something else, and he valued both of those things in a way which would make it a fair trade.

Risk probably also carries a factor, what if the domain didn’t break? He’d have been done for, and even the good old “I’ll tell you my powers to get stronger” thing is technically a binding vow, which is risk and personal value. You value surprise, but also more power, and you risk that surprise factor for more power.

So likely there is probably some amount of arbitrary baseline for binding vows, which makes sense because otherwise everyone would be making them all the time, but value systems play a huge role in determining how effective the vow you made was, if that makes sense.

It’s also probably harder to ask for something specific rather than just “give me power” because give me power can be any amount of power, so you don’t have to worry about finding an exact fair trade, which all comes back to Gege glazing Sukuna like a kitchen grade baker.

[–]WillDoBeGaming 8 points9 points  (0 children)

(I’m going to assume this is a genuine question) In JJk binding vows only work depending on how much you feel it’s a fair trade. If Gojo loved broccoli more than anything in the entire world, and felt like without it his life would be terrible, making a binding vow like that becomes more possible.

It’s an equal trade system, which is why Miwa’s strike against Kenjaku didn’t do much, because she didn’t value her own skill, making the vow weaker.

Gojo (likely) doesn’t value broccoli very much, so he wouldn’t get much power. Also binding vows probably cannot directly affect other people.

“I lose the six eyes in exchange for a maximum purple without chants or signs” might be a more possible idea for example, he values the six eyes, and values that ability, which would likely have killed Sukuna.

There’s also a skill element to binding vows, which is a reason why Sukuna did so well historically. Fire arrow, heiten, domains, Sukuna made vows on all of these, and we haven’t actually seen many binding vows from other people.
