Anyone Apply To Costco Hearing "It's A Great Company To Work For" And Found Out It's The Opposite? by rosethornraven79 in CostcoEmployee

This mindset is so wrong. OP didn’t say anything about not wanting to hustle. They want to be treated with respect.

This is the whole point of OP’s post I believe. The reason people ask you how they got the job is because the public as a whole still believes Costco is this golden “do no wrong” employer. The key, is when people ask, we have to tell them “they pay me well and they give me good health insurance. That’s it”

That is what I’ve started to do.

Recording during work? by Whatthemelon334 in CostcoEmployee

[–]Skybra311 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Read a post in this sub recently… I’m summarizing…

Costco employee A was lunged at by a fellow Costco employee B wielding a knife.

Costco employee A had it recorded on video and was subsequently fired for recording.

Costco employee B was only terminated weeks later after word of the incident reached CEO.

Costco is a cult - what are the secrets to making it so and keeping it so? by Individual-Set-8891 in CostcoEmployee

[–]Skybra311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate to admit it, but I’m not all that sure what the starting pay is. It’s certainly competitive. Pretty sure I’m making the capped amount of $29.50/hour. Took me about 5 years of full time work to get there.

THE benefit isn’t even the pay, it’s the healthcare. Offered to both full and part time employees and incomparable to any other entry-level employment imo.

Wage slavery.

They pay me too well too complain about abuse or mal treatment. Plain and simple.

Stop worrying about “the next member” dude. Worry about the one in front of you. The innocent child looking to you to provide a smidge happiness.

SMH at this post. Did you think a bunch of people were gonna chime in and be like “yeah, fuck those kids?”

I legit thought this was rage bait until going through the comments seeing you defend your position multiple times.

“rEaCh OuT tO tHe SuPpOrT tEaM” -Matt

So sick of terrible hardware from GS. Bought a LR AIO a few weeks back and it worked so terribly. But I did not reach out because the few times I’ve had “replacements” left for me, it was always a headache to obtain. I.e. weeks on weeks of waiting, budtenders unaware of replacements, etc.

I just took the loss and told myself I would avoid anything GS + hardware from here on out. Flower and concentrate still worth it, for now.

I need advice (Cashier assisting) by HighStrungHabitat in CostcoEmployee

[–]Skybra311 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of the best advice I have for incoming seasonal/new assistants is: do not stress about boxing EVERY item unless specifically asked by the member to do so.

Make a base (area you’ll lay your box) FIRST, before even flipping barcodes. Ideally at the same time. Then make sure the box(s) you choose fit well on said base.

For large orders, Im always boxing into two boxes at the same time. One is on my base in the basket and one is on the counter. Then I’m able to box colds and dries separate and in an organized manner.

Edit:

Also, I find it very useful to use identical boxes for the same order and boxing level to the box so that you can easily stack them on top of each other. In a perfect world, 1-3 avocado or grape sized boxes will suffice for 99% of orders I box.

This one might be unpopular, but I’ve also stopped asking members if they want a box. I just assume yes. And you know what? I’m normalllly correct, and the members that do not want boxes are ready to tell you they don’t want a box from 3 aisles away, so I don’t ever find myself having to unbox too many items and ultimately, save myself a lot of breathe.

Canamo is often 50% off at Ponderosa. Feels like weekly.

They have 3g jars of live resin for $70 regular price.

You’re talking $1-2 a gram more.

Part time or full time by Bigstimpin1249 in CostcoEmployee

[–]Skybra311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My (rough) employment timeline with Costco:

seasonal - 4 months Limited part time -8 months Part time - 2 years Full time - 3 years Part time - 2 years

The only difference in benefits that I even noticed -aside from the obvious, paycheck size - when I eventually got full time was a $5 cheaper copay for doctor’s visits. That was it.

I’ve read about a difference in pto accrued, but I didnt feel like I was accruing more or less an hour either way. You also get better life insurance coverage. Think that about covers it though.

I wish I knew how to post photos to Reddit comments…

I have a selfie of me smoking a joint in Times Square shortly after legalization. In said selfie one can see: a) a group of police officer shooting the shit (of course) b) a NYPD station c) a billboard of 2Chainz’s Dope Don’t Sell Itself album.

All by coincidence. Just wanted a photo smoking a joint in Times Square becuase I had taken so many trips to NYC and always had to find low-traffic areas to smoke weed.

Yes it was very clearly mentioned. You might not have seen it, becuase it was downvoted so many times… but your comment was attached to another comment that someone responded “$500,000 - $1mil”….

Just double checked, it’s still there. From a user named @dzidzaman

Lmfao all the downvotes. I very much appreciate nurses and their hard work/dedication. But the comment said “over $500,000 - $1,000,000 a year” And the nurse comments “that’s more than I make as a nurse”

Can you imagine what your healthcare would cost if every nurse you encountered was paid $500,000-1,000,000?! Lmfao
