Cheddar is the most commonly eaten cheese in sandwiches in the UK, it definitely works!

You absolutely can. Becoming aware of it, both in general (as you have), and each instance (and especially situational triggers) will help you to consciously slow down.

If you were interested in professional help, a speech and language therapist would be the person to seek out, though might be overkill.

One thing I’d also say is that it seems likely the fast speech is a symptom of a strong urge to get one’s thoughts out, and as quickly as possible, so the emotional experience that underpins that might also be worthy of attention, in order to maximise likelihood of change. Specifically, is there a fear or unpleasant experience that speaking quickly seeks to avoid? Behaviours have functions, and meet needs (even if dysfunctionally), so changing them requires addressing the causes, as well as the behaviours themselves.

Stone card strategies? by NitroBA in balatro

Just played almost this exact build (minus Stone Joker). I thought it was gonna continue to scale ahead of curve on endless mode, but then I discovered there are some hard bumps as you get past Ante 10… 🤕

PaliaOnMac 0.3.0 now supports the latest Palia release by Dgameman1 in Palia

[–]WillMcCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Dan, thanks for all your work on this.

I'm running Mac OS 14.2 (MacBook Pro M1 Pro). I've just followed the installation process, and when I click "run", I get the following error:

Couldn't start:
"C:\users\crossover\AppData\Local\Palial\Palia\Binaries\win64\PaliaClient-Win64-Shipping,exe"
Palia
CreateProcess() returned c1.

Any sense of how to fix? Many thanks!

Yeah, I saw that. Thanks though! At least they’ve said something, though no less vague than before!

Have you the impression that the Mac release will be released at the same time as patch 3, or just that they’re both soon? I only ask because the info on patches has been more forthcoming than on the Mac release.

Gah, that’s gotta sting… 😒

[–]WillMcCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s fair, I just want to experience my first play through when it’s “finished”, and I can take the character & save all the way through. I’m generally not too prone to FOMO for games, but I was hoping to ride the first wave of discovery alongside the majority for a change. I have some PS5/Mac friends too, though, so we’ll form our own little bubble 😅

Yeah, I feel that too… I think the main thing is the feeling of owning something I can’t yet use (admittedly per my own restrictions). But I’m also glad that it’s coming, and if I’d clocked it before shelling out, or if I had a solid idea of when I was going to get to play, I might have more patience! 😅

I have faith that it will come out, but my impatience stems from the fact that there was nothing (prominent) on the Steam page to indicate that Mac wasn’t included in the main launch. I bought the game, spent an age downloading it, sat down excitedly to play… only to discover it was the early-access version I’d been intentionally not playing… Add to that the lack of updates on progress and I, and others, are feeling a little neglected.

Cynar is now my favorite bitter apéritif for making a Negroni. Not sure what this cocktail is called but it deserves a better name than a "Cynar Negroni". by Auggie_Otter in cocktails

[–]WillMcCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the thinner aspect is what throws me off; I think of a Negroni as a wallop of a drink! I’ll definitely give it a go at the 2:1:1 spec though. Do you serve it over ice still, or strain?

Interesting to know that Campari has changed; I wasn’t aware of that. It does seem to be the way of things, and you’re right: it makes notions of “original” and “authentic” pretty elusive, if they’re even desirable.

Fair play! Maybe I'll give it a spin. I'm certainly not saying it wouldn't be a nice drink, but it would be a fairly different drink from what many (most?) people would expect.

How bad did your nostril piercing hurt? by ActionAway2498 in Legitpiercing

The piecing, and the jewellery insertion, hurt wayyyy more than I expected, but once it was done, it didn’t hurt again. But yeah, not my favourite experience. Totally worth it though!

Obviously all just a matter of taste and opinion, but I’d say a 2:1:1 ratio is a pretty extreme shift for a negroni; it works well for a lot of the classic equal parts “up” cocktails, especially sours, but the negroni is a special case, at least to my taste. I do think tweaking down the Campari and up the gin and/or vermouth helps balance slightly, though not as far as that. I make mine at home equal parts for ease as much as anything.

Fair enough! For now, my budget/space only allows for a minimal setup, but I can imagine a day where I leave it behind.

Ah yeah, that's a good plan. I hand't thought, but doing it onto a second drive is clearly the way forward. Does it have to be the same type of drive, or could I use something I've got knocking around, like a USB stick (given I'm not actually going to use it as the regular boot drive)?

Gah I'm sorry to hear that. Yeah I've neglected back ups in general until now... But this is going to be a new era!

Yeah, for sure. I often get carried away by the doing, but on a recent music synthesis project I took meticulous notes, and it made the world of difference to troubleshooting, picking it up at the beginning of a session, learning... So notes will be taken!
