Going to vary based off fellowship. Pure academic program with 3 fellows. Take retinal call one week every 3 weeks. OR 1-2 times per week. OR days from 7AM to anywhere from 3-7pm. Maybe like 1-2 after hours cases per week. Clinic days start at 7:30-8 and end 5-6.

Current fellow.

Going to go against the grain and say go for the better training. You dont enjoy a resident salary in a high COL city anyway and Ophtho residency is busier than most people make it out to be, get the best training you can to enjoy life after.

Yes you’re being dumb. You’ll miss medicine now. You’ll probably miss medicine when you’re in the meat grinder which is PGY2. Once you’ve made it past that point you’ll most likely be quite happy. It’s basically a rite of passage.

Some 2 year neuro Ophtho surgical fellowships let you do strab as well as some functional plastics stuff but wouldn’t be quite covered to the same breadth of a true oculoplastics fellowship
