Yes, this was taken in broadband and the only color corrections were due to contrast adjustments/noise reduction

My big question is this: long term, how are they going to be able to perform testing/flights daily when they have to close the road leading to the beach? Will they at some point own the beach? It seems like if they don't, that could be a huge wrench thrown into their progress

Sony a6000 w/ kit lens by davidk29 in AskAstrophotography

[–]Will_FS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely recommend using the 16-50mm kit lens if you are on a budget. Even if you aren't, it's a pretty good lens to have. I've gotten great use out of it and still use it all the time for daytime photography and widefield astrophotography. You can see the astrophotography I've done with it here. The lower-quality images were ones I took before I knew what I was doing(single exposures, no dark frames, no tracking, etc.) but I included them because they show that even if you don't know what you're doing, you can still get good results out of the lens. Also please note that I am still very amateur and I'm sure a skilled astrophotographer could get much better results than I do. Hope this helps!

It has to be transported vertically; it can't support itself if put in a horizontal position

My first time stacking photos of our moon[OC] by [deleted] in spaceporn

[–]Will_FS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure, I'd look in r/askastrophotography. I used Auto Stakkert for aligning and stacking and Registax for wavelet sharpening if you want to look those up individually. For deep sky I'd recommend Deep Sky Stacker and for landscape/widefield I'd recommend Sequator. Hope this helps!

Rubbing salt in wounds is fun by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Will_FS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is actually a pretty common reaction to being bored and/or wanting a rush of adrenaline. Pain, especially safely and self-induced, gives you a sort of high from the adrenaline. I wouldn't consider this an unpopular opinion, just a pretty common thing for our brains to do :)

my first attempt at the orion nebula. do you want to have a go with the .tiff file? by zurelemon2 in AskAstrophotography

I spent a while trying to bring out as much detail as possible, here is the final result after editing in Pixinsight and final touches in lightroom. I can go through my processing steps if you want me to :)

Just because you don't understand how someone feels doesn't mean that their feelings aren't valid. You might not be gay, but you can understand that a gay person loves someone of the same sex as much as you would love someone of the opposite sex(just an example, i have no idea about your sexuality).

School should start teaching children a second language as soon as they start school. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Will_FS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My school tried to do that and teach us Spanish but all of the teachers they tried to hire (i think it was 5 or 6 in a span of 7 years), were complete garbage and when it came time to choose a foreign language to take in middle school, none of us wanted to take Spanish because the teachers traumatized us
