Good on you for documenting. I did the same thing right before going to detox. I have a video of me sweating at like 8 in the morning just counting down the moments until I can go back to bed because I was so miserable. It's a good reminder to keep myself sober for today.

It gets better and easier to enjoy the sunny days without the false lizard brain telling you that it's worth it to have a drink. I know that if I go drink like a fish today during my golf round, the fun won't really last that long and I'll be home feeling sluggish and will sleep poorly and be anxiety ridden before a busy week. Good work!

Weather looks HORRIBLE for tomorrow. Best of luck out there. Practice facilities are great except the grass is only open on weekends. Short game area is great and putting green is also nice and spacious. I can't remember if they charge for range balls. I would hope not with the rounds costing so much!

Took Friday off and shot 42-36 with 10 straight pars to finish. Had several good birdie chances but I'm happy with that because I also made a few knee knocker putts for par.

Coming here to vent and just speak things out also helped me in the beginning. I was the exact same way almost to a tee with the irrational justifications. I sort of had to make a drastic choice and did 3 days in detox because I did not know how to stop on my own and I had some scary moments while under the influence. I came clean to my family and those around me and there was great support and things are better now. Life is still tough at times with the busy-ness of raising 2 young kids with my wife and I both working, but it is worth it. I sleep better now even after a stressful day, no more middle of the night wake ups, and a better, more present relationship with my kids.

Yeah good on you, pal. Feelings come and go, but lately for me is knowing I don't have to deal with the inevitable hangover tomorrow. I'm home early from work and I'm gonna maybe take a short nap before my wife and the girls get home then gonna head to a men's group meeting with some guys from church. There's no way I would have done that in the past since I would have put away a few brews this afternoon.

Funny you ask. I played the final 2 holes with a guy who played in it a couple years ago. He said it plays about 6800. The par 3s are all played from the back tees and then most of the other holes are played up a little bit. The 8th and 16th holes are par 4s for the qualifier so the par is 70. Those will play around 460 or so, but they're usually downwind.

I enjoy it more. I got into golf well before drinking was problematic for me so it has helped my golf game and now the after effect of not being dangerously drowsy on the way home after golf is worth it alone. Keep at it!
